Bug Report March 28th 2017 VU Issues | Forum Issues

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let everyone know that we're all ears as well as all hands on deck for dealing with these current patch issues. Just wanted to let everyone know a few things:

So the Unknown Error: 0 seems to be linked to one of the Dire Weed Chain Missions (and not the Mang Chang Mission). It's really strange as there were no conflicts or errors that occurred with these changes on the test server.

MindArk is helping us sort through what could be the cause as I'm typing this.

The new crafting components are just a start for the new crafted items that will be coming to Planet Cyrene, however several other blueprints are not yet implemented and are waiting for the balancing team.

The forums have been having a fair amount of up and down time with various features not working sometimes during the up time. I have already talked about this with our forum administrator and it's something that he's finding a more permanent solution for.

For now though, everything seems to be in full working order.

Please post any other VU issues in this thread.

Cheers,
Kris

I apologize about the downtime. I'm going to move the forums to a new server. As things look now, that move will happen during the upcoming weekend, so in case you experience some odd issues, or find the forums closed, it's good news.

Well, you've been trying to use the dire weed chain as the test for solving the old counter issue, haven't you?
I'd assume it has something to do with whatever changes you have made.

The new crafting components are just a start, you write, but frankly, I don't see much point in the first end result. If that is balanced according to MA, then I guess we can forget about hoping anything sensible will come along.
Worse than no use for materials is a useless use, as some expletive somewhere will claim that at least there IS a use...
- or does this piece of clothing have magic powers that I haven't seen?

At the same time (this vu), another place has introduced several cheap sets of geographical attire. I'm already looking forward to going to have a look, although my butt does happen to be on Cyrene right now.

I guess this wasn't a bug report, but a bad balance report. It is an issue, though!

Yesterday, I was getting Dire Weed Mission error. Now today it is error code 0. This happens during crafting or any other interaction with terminals or mission avatars. I was going to abandon current Dire Weed mission but I have 500+/1000 now and don't really want to. Hopefully will find issue.

Correct, for the Mini Patch we'll be reverting all the dire weed missions + initial Mang Chang Mission.

So we'll have to go back to the drawing board on this one, the really strange part is that there were 0 issues with any error codes on the test server.

If you remember this fantastic post by 008, I'll quote him here:

One of the biggest concepts for my big crafting post is that it has been consistently proven that easily accessible as well as cheap clicks are both very effective bp designs. Everyone focuses on the big ATH and HOF of the Explosive Projectile Blueprints, but there is more to the story of its runaway success than just the big gambling swirls…

Like many popular bps before it, the mats to click were easily attainable by all and were very cheap to run the lowest lvl which is always great for skilling and bp collecting. Sometimes it feels like the most clicked bps in the history of the game are some of the smallest: basic filters and standard dampers, gen leather texture, basic screws, simple conductors, even some oddball bps that contain easily obtained mats remain popular such as the lysterium power container, it is effectively, a way to churn through large amounts of lyst. If there were lysterium power container bps 1 - 4 they all would be used. The lesson here is if people can click, they will click.

This concept can also be applied to planet partner loot. In an ideal world, I would be able to click everything i came back from a hunt with if I wanted, no matter how small… got 10 flesh from that last hunt? Run it through the 1x flesh bp see if you can pull a mini or new bp,, got 6000 low grade scrap? Better use the lvl 3 scrap bp that takes 20 x scrap a click instead of the lvl 1 that uses only 2x scrap… This idea may be a bit extreme, but the idea is that not only are the mats easily acquired, they are cheap clicks (proper crafting runs take alot of clicks anyways) and can be expandable to higher lvl versions that consume more material. People will click those bps, even if the product is nothing useful for now. Especially if you can manage the product to be a super low tt stackable with the rest as residue return. This would further enhance turnover. If the product was super low tt, everyone can stack again, and await its future uses at little tt cost tied up, but only after cycling through economy 2x (hunting or mining, then crafting). The rest of the return comes out as residue which is easily turned over..

So he put forth a good hypothesis, and we decided to test his theory.

There will of course be more items coming to this blueprint book that will use these components, they just aren't here yet =p

At the same time (this vu), another place has introduced several cheap sets of geographical attire. I'm already looking forward to going to have a look, although my butt does happen to be on Cyrene right now.

I'm very interested to see how those work out, let me know what you guys think about them.

I hope this helps explain a little bit more.

Cheers,
Kris

Thanks for the reply. I don't really want to abandon the dire weed either, but the choice of a) wait for mini patch, b) leave the planet to escape or c) abandon dire weeds .... well, yeah!

My experience of the clicking of bps is that each one clicked has at least one advantage over most other bps. Some results are used in higher-up bps that are/were clicked in large numbers too (weaps), some are used for skilling either by beginners or higher up because the mats for them are low mu, some also drop other desirable bps etc.

The new bp book has some slots saying undiscovered, but will you be keeping us informed about what has actually been released or will they rename themselves? Worse than looking for a needle in a haystack is having no needle that can even be found...

Also, while I actually approve of the use of sweat in some bps, it makes clicks more expensive (even if about 50% of the sweat is returned). For really basic bps I am more likely to click if they are of the lyst power container single low mu mat type. Edit: Oh, AND the bps use a token as well, so personally, my initial repsonse to this test is not very positive, although I liked 008's post!

Lastly, is there a naming mismatch for one of the cube mats (two adjectives meaning basically the same, but different - I forget which right now)? Anybody?
(Edit: cube inbued calcium mat for the shirt and cube infused calcium bp.)

Had some time to play EU first time in a week or two.
Noticed that mission unknown error code 0 while walking with pet.
Error_2017-04-01_10-54-47_0.png

Stood there till i got some skills from pet and no message, so I walked a bit and no message. Happened to turn around heading back and error 0 appeared around same spot... (relogged and still error magically appeared)
Long story short, the error appears when crossing a north/south grid line
Error_2017-04-01_11-16-39_0.png

I mapped out another north/south line and theres another to the east about the same distance apart as the first two.
Error_2017-04-01_11-26-42_0.png

(same mission unknown error when interacting with NPCs)

So I aborted the Pic's Pollen Mission on a hunch because it's also for dire weeds.
and the error message changed to the arc challenge dire weed one. (at least while interacting with NPCs)
Error_2017-04-01_11-32-28_0_AbortedPicsPollen+NowGivesError500.png

So tired of waiting for a fix I aborted the arc challenge for dire weeds and now everything works fine. :/
Error_2017-04-01_11-38-22_500_AbortedDireWeed500Mission+NowNoErrors.png

Also now the mission terminal (Finally!) works for me.
Error_2017-04-01_11-40-53_None_NowCyreneMissionChainTerminalShows-2Missions.png

So it appears the dire weed mission bug might be hooked into other missions and the very fabric of the mapping of the planet. Hope this bug is/was easy for devs to fix.
EDIT: I wonder if the mission unknown error 0 is detecting grids because the pict's pollen mission is area based and so it appears when walking from some location detection routine?

Since I can't debug this in the future, I'm looking forward to the new update.

i found the same, when moving over certain areas the error would flash up. i suspect when you pass these lines (maybe server lines or just edges of the build area) the mission log is refreshed, probably designed for location based missions or updating your location in the friend list, this then triggers the error.
I am about 3k into the 9k so i won't be aborting, i've just nipped over to ark until its fixed

This has probably been said before, but in case someone missed it:
Abandoning the ARC Challenge - Dire Weeds will stop Error 0

Abandoning the ARC Challenge - Dire Weeds will stop Error 0

Actually it depends on the popup message:
1. Mission Unknown, code 0 = Pict's pollen mission + OLD Arc Challenge Dire weed
2. ARC Challenge - ### Dire Weed, code 0 = OLD Arc Challenge Dire weed

EDIT: I never got the location error #1 or any dire error until the last VU.
I've known since last year when I stopped hunting dires and that's why the Old pict's pollen mission was giving #1 msg after the VU.
I would bet that abandoning the arc challenge would clear #2 msg, but some players with old Picts pollen would still get #1 msg. And based on Paul's reply above I'd guess anyone with Old Arc Challenge gets a new pict's mission would still get the #1 msg because it's location sensitive but the other mission isn't.

I only play this game, otherwise I would've done a lot more debugging to map out the grid since I notice some of the errors appeared far left or right of the grid lines I zig-zagged across yesterday.

The mission does not count weeds.
I had no chance but to drop it. :(

826/1000 in case you want to refund it.

I'm still getting the error too...

Kris may be you can ask MA support to be open to players requests to manually restate kill progress. This would allow players like me with high count (12k/20k) to abandon the mission. Otherwise the only way I can play on Cyrene is camping ARC Vendors. They seem to be immune to errors..

And yes ARC Vendor Rank 3 still shows Cubes as currency for weapons and Cube Components for armor.
