Conclusions for the Soft Launch of Cyrene

After spending over 50,000ped on Cyrene , mining & crafting here is my conclusions on the soft launch of Cyrene, with possibly no more discoveries to come until the hard launch (no discoveries made since first week of June and now the 20th June)

Hunting - Mobs are great ! spawns however need to be improved, Duster , Skreel and Wiles areas still experience crashes, the missing Til.Zik Leaders are a pain (now replaced by young skull birds), the average loot return is very unfriendly to new players wanting to hunt any upgraded mobs, unless you put in hours and hours of hardcore hunting to get the peak loots, you will lose. Armor decay is a killer on most mobs, Only one item looted on Cyrene can be crafted by anyone (will give my conclusions for crafting soon), Some oils are extremely expensive TT wise and have to be TTed to survive and cannot be stockpiled, due to the poor loot average. Creature Hide, Rough Hide, Sinew Oils are all on my "to TT list" cause i cannot sustain stockpiling these items. Eye Oil has no properties at the moment and is plenty. I like the high level challenging mobs , there evade and force technique are like no other mob in Entropia Universe, you need to be on your toes every min of the hunt, im very happy with these challenges and sets a unique aspect for Cyrene , well done on that part, however....... the result of hunting based on the poor loot returns makes it extremely hard to keep at it. There are decent amount of mobs but with no resulting loot to craft opportunities.

Quality of Mobs and Types of Challenge types they provide : A
Loot Return Average :F
Spawn of Mobs : C
Sustainability of long term hunting without relying on visiting Calypso : D
Potential Market of Loots result of hunting : F (approx only 2 loots from scout bots is craftable at this time)

Mining & Crafting - Well this a tough one but from experience Mining for ores is pretty good but for new miner without relying on Lysterium MU on Calypso, your ped will be gone in no time as you try to stockpile your ores to craft or to sell to crafters (there are only a handful of crafters that can craft those ores). The result of expanding your mining profession without TTing most of your ores is next to none at this time, due to the extremely poor drop rate of new player Blueprints, Only one set of Blueprints (Scout Armor) can be used by new miner/crafters, however there is no chance at looting further BPS by crafting Scout Armor and the cost of 10 tokens per Armor Mold (20 tokens required just for one click), the variety of ores available is quite good but with next to none in expansion after mining the ores the only friend is your TT at this time as its extremely difficult to expand in the crafting profession on Cyrene, as for crafters is a HUGE issue, only 1! Blueprint has the chance to expand to the rest of the tree is the 'Power Cells' now Scout Bots drop the low grade , but from my experience and others who have tried just to loot another BP by clicking these Cells is extremely hard and not beneficial for a new player of Cyrene ONLY !, Foriegn Blueprints not obtainable or looted on Cyrene (Books and Blueprints) have resulted in almost 90% of the total discoveries made in crafting, Chance of looting a bonding liquid BP is next to none at this time, there is no way (unless you have a healthy ped card and buy BPs at insane MUs on auction) 50PED for a lysterium power container BP is a rip off for a new player. The future for a new player crafter/miner is not desirable at this time and with possibly no more BPs to loot for the soft launch and the average return for a crafter on Cyrene is not encouraging. And those High Grade components have yet to loot and the quantity to click when they do get discovered is insane, Ive hunted my ass off on all bots trying to loot those high grade power components with no success.

Quality of Mining and finding many ores : A
Loot Return average from Mining : C
Loot Return average from crafting : F
Availablity of looting New Player Bps with possibility of Expansion : F
Potential Market of Loots results of mining : E (reason being is mining is good for people who like to do the daily missions)
Sustainability of long term mining without relying on visiting Calypso : D (TT is your Friend)
Sustainability of long term crafting without relying on visiting Calypso : F

Pointers for Soft launch progress

* Planet and all its resources and Different type of Mobs are excellent
* No Market on most of its resources
* Very Rare Chance of looting a Cyrene Blueprint crafting Cyrene Bps
* Great Variety of resources for Mining
* Great Variety of resources for Hunting
* Impossible to Play for Free on Cyrene at this time
* No High Grade Component Loots at this time
* 20 Tokens just to click 1 Scout Armor Attempt (2-3 days of doing daily missions for 1 attempt)
* Crashing Client on Dusters, Skreel and Wiles (sometimes on Rhinos)
* Extremely Poor Loot Return Average Hunting and Crafting
* Survival on Cyrene during the soft launch without relying on Calypso Resources is very Low

Overall : An excellent soft launch if you have a very healthy ped card, many mobs to hunt many unique loots to hunt or mine for , compared to the other planet launches Cyrene is probably had the best of all the soft launches with many ways to survive on Cyrene however the poor loot returns are a killer, and without a decent bankroll your future on Cyrene without relying on Calypso resources is very difficult.. but saying that things look bright for the hard launch, but crafting and ultilisation of the current resources available on Cyrene is extremely poor for hunters and crafters, however for the Miners..... good thing the TT is your friend

cheers:)

NB : I hope this thread will kickstart other Cyrene Pioneers to their personal conclusions of the Cyrene Softlaunch, I wish the developers luck in bringing Cyrene to the new Players in July and hope that alot of these problems are addressed before releasing the hard launch update

All the views are based on my interpretation of my experience and the way ive seen this planet progress in my own eyes, other players may have different views this is in no way of tarnishing the hard work the developers have put into this project its just my point of view at this time.

I got to admit, im quite impressed with this and how professional it was done. But now time for the critics. I wont touch hunting or mining cause i haven't done any of those since day one launch, But you are touching my area crafting and hitting it hard. 1. Drop rate of blueprints have increased from 1 every 3k clicks to 1 every 500 clicks or so. 'Basic Bearing bp' was introduced to Cyrene. 2. Average return of crafting is decent, just wish the things we had crafted has a markup. *We will see markup during hard launch or after* 3. Bonding Liquid Bp drops alot more then you think, i once had 5 in auction at one time from a 10k Bonding Liquid run. and another quick note. I crafted my ass off and still have not seen Lancer or Spear Bp. These bps are not in loot pool.

ok so i do ~500 clicks more of Low Grade i should loot a bp, hmm if they are dropping more then i got more scout bots to kill today, cause ive clicked tons of those low grade and not a single bp, also if the basic bearing bp drops, theres no book on cyrene to put it in for new players. Im mainly reffering to the new 'Cyrene' player that cannot buy a foriegn bp book to click a bp, the other planets have all the books available for general bps, but Cyrene is unique it aims to be self sustaining without the need for foriegn components. I wont click calypso bps here because its not part of Cyrene..

Cyrene does not loot muscle oil, thyroid oil, pancreas, heart and brain so therefore the planet doesnt need those oils, but eye oil i think has a purpose and im sure the developers will acknowledge that Animal Eye Oil is an important part of Cyrene to come, Texture extractors dropping so maybe Cyrene Textures are coming, Even maybe a Cyrene Damage Enhancer as no parts loot on Cyrene for the current enhancers, no output amps, no pyrite, no nova or blazar. Im sure Cyrene have something different in mind.

Lysterium has a purpose here , obviously oil does but everything else is Unique to Cyrene, Amps, Weapons, Enhancers, Faps will all come with Lyst and Oil and Cyrene Materials , as there is no blazar here there must be another method to tier your items on Cyrene, maybe craft blazar with sweat and fruit and 0.00tt oils...who knows, im sure the developers have there road map... and everything that loots on Cyrene has a purpose.

Very nice report, but the way I see it, Cyrene isn't actually supposed to be self-viable YET.....
I do see signs that Cyrene will be aiming for genuine new players - the starter missions already steer players to the scout bots which drop mats that can be crafted and exchanged for the spear vehicle. I expect the spear to retain a value of several peds each (against a tt value of 50 pecs), and thus good mu will already have at least a toehold in the economy. The question for me is what other items can be highly desirable at a high mu in order for the mu chain to trickle down to many of the basic loot items/ores once Cyrene goes into full operation.
As the lysterium container is already prominent, maybe the aim is for lyst to play a big role as a generic material, as suggested above.
If the tokens can be exchanged for stuff worth paying for, then that will be another good 'subsidy' for daily mission grinding. We know that players must expect tt losses overall - that's the income for MA and PPs - but I'm confident that mu will play a good role for new players, it's just a question of what items Cyrene can offer the higher players paying for stuff.

I DO hope there are a few biggies in the chain, such as multi-material vehicles and exchange-for-token vehicles, to help sustain this setup.

My conclusion is that Cyrene is looking good. I have left again now, as Agis is right that it is not sustainable to be there yet, but if the games show launch provides new players with 5$ starter cards or so, then we will see a mass of new players in a month's time. BUT, for the hard launch we will need more auction terminals and mission areas, I think :)
