Greetings everyone.

I'm from Planet Calypso and started playing about 3 weeks ago. I played the game for about a month three years back but after an ID-10T error occured someone gained access to my account and left me with just my baby blue undies, so I left. The bug had already bitten though, and I came back, wiser, and more determined to make a success of my ventures.

While taking a break from killing punies at Icarus, I took a stroll through the shops at Port Atlantis. There I saw a set of Turrelion armour. I immediately fell in love with it as I love role playing, and it just seemed to fit my character name of Johnny TexHex Junker perfectly. I went looking for the place where I could acquire this armour and all fingers pointed to Cyrene. I started reading up basically everything I could find on Cyrene, and looked and asked around in game as well. Saw some really nifty stuff to add to my roleplay, like getting a suitable pet (Paneleon is what I decided on), and looking for a way to get here. A friend of mine heard of my plans and said he is coming to Cyrene next week to check it out a bit, and I'm welcome to catch a ride with him. That same night still, my mentor asked if I would like to see space, as he had to make a trip for a friend. I of course jumped at the idea and when I heard the destination, already knew that Calypso wouldn't be seeing me again soon.

He got a friend of his that is a regular on Cyrene and the Hub, to help me with some tips when we arrived, and off I went! What an experience. I landed at the rookie training centre, ran around like a headless chicken speaking to everyone with an exclamation mark on their head that I could find, grabbing every mission that I could. It's taken me a couple of hunts to get used to the different mobs and their differences from Calypso mobs (Level 6 punies is not what you get around Icarus lol) but I think I'm starting to settle down a bit. I've gone up 5% roughly on my discipleship while testing the waters and so far the dusters at the training camp and dire weeds at atlas hunting grounds are by far my favourite creatures to hunt. Thank you Cyrene Secrets for the wonderful map and information you have!

I noticed the extremely small market on the planet (9 pages in total auction house) and with my mentor being worlds away now literally, I knew I had to get self sufficient very fast. I splashed some cash on a silver starter pack and small ammo pack ( I know, even though I'd love to be Mr Big Spender some poor life choices just doesn't allow it) and off I set on my journey to see what the planet has to offer. My loot has been a lot better than on Calypso, I've gotten some 5 and 6 ped drops on dusters, dire weeds and tree dragons (insane regen!). No globals yet, but hey, I just started, it'll come. The better loot evens out nicely with the bit tougher creatures than on Calypso, and I'm very glad it was addressed while balancing things out.

I still haven't found the place to get the Turrelion armour, only the Turrelion homeland armour which I will also get eventually, but is not what I am looking for at the moment. It breaks my heart every time I walk past a Turrelion npc, knowing I can't just stick my Barbarella against his head and walk away with his clothes. Tonight I am going to go exploring a bit to find parts for the salvage missions (desperately need a flying vehicle to do proper exploring, and there's NONE on the market) so hopefully then, as I gather parts and tp's I'll come across my future armour as well.

I've met some nice people on Cyrene, including a player called Goblioni, I think, last night, who entertained me with a mindforce light and dance show at Atlas. It was great fun meeting someone in a game that's not a bittervet, full of aches and pains. I actually indirectly had to do with him later again at the auction and was pleased to see a familiar name while I bid on his wares. I also put some of my own materials and guns that I looted the last 3 days on auction to see if I can push it over to 10 pages, but failed miserably hehe. I'd love to meet more people from here, but, being so new, I have no idea how to join chats except click on a link, so I'll pop in and say hi there soon as I figure it out.

I do have two concerns though, one is serious, and one not, as I couldn't survive too long being just serious. Let's see if you can see which one is which:
1) The Spear mission.
I came to Cyrene to earn/buy the Turrelion armour. It's who I am. Anyone can gather 36 ped, walk into Port Atlantis and buy the armour. I'm a firm believer that people appreciate stuff more that they earned. The Spear mission (Getting Crafty!) tells you to either buy the Light Power Cells from another player, or it tells you what to do to craft your own. I, of course, automatically decided to craft (earn) my own. Then came the hiccups. The robots I found at the base didn't drop a single Light Power Supply Unit in about 2 hours, 5 ped of ammo, and burning through my Imperium Trainee Pistol and Trainee blade. Ok, it's probably the wrong ones and meant for training only. So I stumble across Cyrene Secrets in my search for answers and find some XT and 100 Scout Bots nearby. 10 peds and another hour and half later I am sitting with 1 power supply. I need 80 to complete the 10 Power Cells (160 about considering my newbie skills and having never touched a manufacturing machine before, except once by accident when I misclicked). On my current rate I'd be looking at 1600 peds spent to get that 160 Power Supplies. Then I make the 10 power cells. They're worth 1 ped each, so immediately a 1590 ped loss. Then I get the Spear, 0.50 ped TT, but selling on auction for 10 ped. It don't make sense to me at all. That 1600 ped is a huge investment. I could just buy 160 Spears off the bat. I take it the mission is for newer people like me that don't have their own car yet, as Cyrene doesn't give a vehicle like Calypso that I saw, but how many newbies are gonna stick around to get the car considering the intense hoop at the start? I do think the drop rate on the Power Supplies could be adjusted a bit to fall in line more with the mission requirements. Or...I'm just an idiot that went looking for the stuff in all the wrong places. I currently have a bid on Power Cells on auction, where I see them sell for 12 ped for 20. Surely I am missing something huge in this equation. Please advise.

2) I took a mission that told me to go take care of a Den Mother. Nice story behind it, decent tracking etc. So...I get to the cave, find the Den Mother and I can see immediately why someone wants her to be taken care of. She is in such a state! I immediately start taking care of her, I bring her an assortment of foods as I am not sure if she's herbivore or omnivore or carnivore (turns out she's carnivore). I place them beside her and do a couple of dance moves as she doesn't have a television, for entertainment while she eats. She apparently doesn't like the food I brought and proceeds to kill me without warning. I try to give her a foot rub and again she kills me without so much as a thank you. I look around for a blanket to keep her warm in the cold, drafty cave, and resort to taking my yellow jumpsuit off to use that instead, and again my efforts are rewarded with death. I think the mission is seriously bugged. This Den Mother doesn't seem to have any intentions of being taken care of.

Hoping to become part of the furniture on Cyrene still!

Turrelion armor (the brown one) is sold by a vendor north of 0x101 tp, in the yard. It's sold for tokens that come from killing people in PVP arenas of The Hub. There are different arenas with different entry costs and tbh I haven't calculated the total cost of an armor set.

You might also want to look into crafted Turrelion Silverstitch armor - it has the same model but different color (light grey, sort of).

Tip: you can look up the stats of any unlimited item that is tradable on auction via Auction > Orders > Available. The list is not searchable however, so it may take some browsing to find what you want.

Thank you for the welcome and advice. I'm looking into everything as I get a chance. I've met a couple of you in game already and you were just as friendly there. You'll definitely be seeing me around lots still. :)
