Green lime tokens are actually a way to save Cyrene owners some money. Why you might ask? Simple, before the Green Lime tokens were introduced, there were another type of tokens dropped in the Proving Grounds, same kind of drop 8-12 tokens at a time but that actually had TT value and they were dropping around 1.5 ped to 1.75 ped an hour in their worst period, much more before that. I know of people that used to easily get over 100 ped a day in the HUB back then, around 120-140 ped on a good day. (I still have some of them in my storage and I can link so that you have a look if you want). However, such nice income meant the HUB was "closed" by some socs that had loads of members camping the HUB and would kill you or not. Some were pretty nice and would let people pick tokens with them, others not that much. But most of the time you would be able to pick some tokens
Green lime tokens have no TT, the only value you can get is on MU and you have to get a buyer for them. The other tokens you could just TT and get your ped straight away. This was a massive help for me, and probably others, when I was starting out in the game as Cyrene was deserted back then and you would not find any traders or sweat buyers, therefore you would either depo or pick some tokens to get your first weapons/ammo/gear. Not to mention that when the other tokens were dropping most of the times one of the rooms would not work hence no tokens would be dropped. This lead to several complaints and reports that were made by players and the reply back then was always that the drop rate would be
increased and that all rooms
would work properly. This never happend.
Instead, Green Lime tokens came into game with double the spwans in all rooms (2 when they used to be 1 per room) and a reduced drop rate to around 800-1200 tokens an hour. From what you have wrote it seems like they have reduced the drop rate of the tokens even more.
You math seems pretty accurate Justine. If you were to gather tokens only from picking in the HUB it would take you nearly two year to get a coat. From what I know and seen about 4-5 players have got coats, most of them did it by using bots/alts. Im talking about Kon, Lord Aron Stone and Queen Angie that I know for a fact used bots/alts. Pretty easy to spot an alt when an ava stays in the HUB 24 hours a day, and I mean literally 24h a day. Or a bot when all the other places are filled with tokens but that one spot that has an afk ava with two to none tokens by its side. These are just a couple of situations that made me send documented reports about these avas but apparently no action was taken against them.
You are very right when you say that if the player is camping there he cant play the game, hence these "players" using these sort of dirty tactics to get the tokens. They keep on playing the game whilst camping the HUb, pretty easy to do really, all you need is a laptop and a desptop for example. Other people that dont engage in this sort of crap will be stuck in the Hub collecting for the best part of 2 years to get the coat.
However I do not agree with increasing the drop rate. That would only fill these leaches pockets even more and you would end up not picking tokens anyways because they will still camp the hub when you are not there (trust me I have even tried logging at times like 5am and 6am and they were there) and if you kill em they will use the free healing to keep comming at you and make you decay. Queen Andreas (think thats how she is called) is from the same soc as Lord Aron (possible connection here anyone?!?!) and she is always sweating at Rookie TP and selling sweat on trade channel, therefore these alts have an almost unlimited supply of sweat and heal to cause you decay.
IMO, and I have stated this on other post, just dry the Proving Grounds like Caly did on Orthos and increase the drop rate of tokens on Turrelia Lurkers or the Beast. This way people that get the tokens are actually spending ped on Cyrene, oposite to just reselling Coat/Tokens and going to some other planet to spend their ped, this is what has been going on dus far.
Funny enough when the tokens had some TT value they were easier to get as ppl would cover decay straight away by selling them to TT so you would get some good pvp practice sessions in the hub. People would fight for them and this prevented camping to some extent...now there is hardly any point in shooting these alts.
