Yeah, there was a sweat exploit on Caly once where mobs got stuck at server borders. It was fixed after public exposure. As I have seen various 'bugs' and 'opportunities' go unnoticed by most for quite a while even on highly populated Caly, I would say the problem is more about whether something is a bug or a little-known feature. It sure is annoying if a 'feature' suddenly gets swamped because it is made public, but is not actually an exploit at all.
As an example also from sweating even, how could sweating the early weeds from a distance be considered an 'unintended consequence' of programming, and thus an exploit? Weeds were a new type of mob that didn't move. To not realise the consequencies for different aspects of the game shows extremely little brain power in my opinion, or extremely little application of brain power at the very least!
Another mob elsewhere was made extremely slow on purpose, so of course you could shoot while moving backwards and stay out of hit range. The interesting thing about that mob was that it seemed to have its nose on one of its feet, and it would drown in about 1 cm of water... AND it lived in a swamp duh! Thus hunting it carefully meant choosing where to walk backwards too, and in my opinion made the whole thing totally legitimate and creative!
However, back directly on topic, mobs not attacking at all is clearly a bug and needs to be fixed asap. If making it public is the only known way to speed things up (and that seems to be the case), then I'm all for it!
