PvP help for those down under.

There are lots of things that I love about entropia. I like that its RCE - which adds SO much immersion to the game. I like the sci-fi theme. I like how it's sandbox, so you can do whatever you want, and roleplay how you want. I like vehicles, I like playing within the market.

The biggest gripe I have with the game is the gameplay. Hunting, mining and crafting all have EXTREMELY poor gameplay.

PvP (of any sort) however, is not half bad when it comes to gameplay. In fact, I might even say its pretty good. In fact, I have created several PvP events to give others the chance to enjoy it in a variety of ways.

Unfortunately for those that live in Australia, New Zealand and other places far from Sweden, server lag can be pretty bad.

What this means for me is that: I can't participate in vehicle races - I lag behind, so no matter how good I am with vehicles, I will not win. I can't participate in space piracy (which was the coolest thing I have seen in any game in a while), I simply cannot win any quad vs quad battle. I can't participate in EUWBC, the lag there is horrendous. I can't participate in pvp4, oil rig, fort events or anything similar. To me, these are all the most fun and coolest parts of Entropia and they are off limits to me purely due to my geographic location and the fact that there is only one server located in Sweden.

Cyrene came out with the Hub. Now this was the greatest thing I've seen. I was so excited about it. But after spending dozens of peds in the 25 pec room, it's became abundantly clear to me that the only kills I get will be when I get lucky. And so, this seems to be off limits to me also.

Now I didn't post this purely to whine. Since the Cyrene development team is also located in South East Asia and they have this amazing pvp system, I was hoping they would be able to sympathise with my plight.

Can anyone think of a way to create an arena that is less punishing for those of us with a high ping. Is there some fun pvp gameplay that is less dependent on people's connection that could be incorporated. Maybe vehicle combat with large slow vehicles might work. Perhaps you could be able to create instances, where only those with similar pings can enter. Obviously this wouldn't solve the lag issue, but at least EVERYONE would be lagging.

Surely something can be done about this issue, at least partially. I see Cyrene as a team which is in the best position to do something about it (within the Hub system) and considering they might be drawing a large portion of their player base from South East Asia, it might be in their own interests to consider these issues.

+10000 Yep we need high, I mean LOW !!! ping access from Oz

High ping is serious issue in most mmo or multiplayer game. If they cannot lower ping for ya, the only way to make your gameplay more interesting is Team PVP. High Ping player is more useful in team pvp as a support role.

Im thinking a mix of AoE and Battleship (the old school board game).....but in EU

Variations of slow moving armored vehicles > Bought from tt High SI, repairable, but lasts only say 10/20 hits depending on dmg. Like token hub weapons there may be different types with marginally different effects, speeds terrain drive capabilities (Some easier up hills, other slower or water bound). Maybe start simple first with just a few types :)

Slow loading weapons > This means you have to predict where the enemy will move and fire at that point hoping you predicted their movement right. Trajectory rocket curve type weapons on vehicles only ^^

Low dmg weapon carrying Recce Soldiers > Slow dmg weapons, these guys can run out into the field/territory and spy and report on enemy movement (tag targets). They can also lay mines (similar to space warp mines), bought from tt or crafted from hub mob which are to come later. They can enter and exit vehicles same as we do now. If need be then opposing foot soldiers can engage each other, but thats not the main game. Low dmg weapons cause you dont want fast moving foot soldiers ruining the game by destroying tanks etc...they can do some dmg, but should be hard for a foot soldier to destroy a vehicle in this environment.

Havent thought it through, literally just a off the cuff idea to explore maybe ? I think this sort of setup can allow for both high ping players (vehicle crew) and lower ping players (Vehicle and foot soldiers) to comfortably play together. Could be a timer based scenario game (not sure if that is possible or good). But from what little i do know of the game mechanics, it seems based on the things i have seen thusfar in EU that this battle mix combo is very possible with what systems are currently available.
