Risen Island - Guide/Map/Bugs/Thoughts

Risen Island has just appeared under skylabs and everyone automatically gets it's TP.

A few others said Risen Island isn't working and gives "[System]: You can not mine in this location." and so I thought I'd try Cyrene TT finders there.
And the TT finders work however... (read on)

Mining:
NPC miner bot near TP seems unresponsive, just walk directly underneath, get in 1st person view then jump. At the apex of jump click NPC to get mission dialog to show.
It has 6 ranks of Miner's Paradise missions can only get 1 at a time.
Rank 1 mission simply says: "Find any deposits worth 100 points"
NPC_MiningMissions-RisenIsland_MissionList.jpg

LBML doesn't have a new map for Cyrene but it still works fine.
Mining-RisenIsland.jpg

^I took 4 TT finders, 200 probes, and already had a TT extractor.
I used: 2 finders with 0.07 left on 3rd finder, and only used 120 probes.
Found 3.96 Ped TT-value of stuff.
- Crude oil 176, Lyst 172, Zornstar 11, Nosifer stone 4,
- Crystals: Yellow 29, Blue 8, Clear 1
All the above gave me 3 pts out of 100 for the rank 1 mission.

Afterwards all of the above I tried F101 finder and it works the same, plus bigger finds give points faster. The "no mining here" msg appears at same (often bumpy) spots.

Currently I've decided the rocky/mountainous outer perimeter of the island to be a waste of time/fuel/probes but it could just be randomness.

Bugs:
NPC (Miner bot) that gives missions is massive in size.
Mine-R bot only appears when really close to it and it's orange radar dot is missing until almost on it's platform.
NPC_MIA-Till-Close_RisenIsland.jpg

Initially I was unable to get any dialog from Mine-R bot to appear.
However I did find that if I got right underneath it (see 1st picture in this post) then jumped up and clicked it then the mission dialog would appear. IMO This should not be necessary, just show's it's way too big and way too far off the ground surface.

Tree's with cut off roots: Looks odd/bad and there's piles and piles of them on Risen.

Tree and rock texture's are water slick: Having water cascade across all these surfaces probably just adds to player's low frame rates, can't see any point of it. I also wonder if it's adding to game lag/overhead in some manner???
RisenIsland-TreesWaterTexture.jpg

Rocks are illusions: This is all rock piles on island and some even float in the air.
RisenIsland-FloatingRocks.jpg

^Look a new mob! Floatarockilla will eat your mining claimz! o_O

Invisible bumps: the land seems to have surfaces that make avatar run on air. Bumpy areas are never higher or wider then the illusionary rocks... So perhaps if illusion rocks got moved then perhaps those bumps are the hard walking surfaces of the rocks???
Anyways it's often near/among those invisible bumpy areas that I will see "[System]: You can not mine in this location." I just moved a foot or two and try mining again, sometimes I do a couple circles to find a mineable spot there, otherwise I'll turn 60 degrees or so and that often gets me mining again too.

Mob noises: occasionally island's sounds are broken with One Loud squawk from sea wraith. After running all over the island and seeing no mobs I have to say it's kinda odd.
(HOWEVER it could be planet-wide problem since the same single squawk happened around the new PvP zone and another time when hunting slime's immediately east too.)
I'll guess and say it seems to happen approximately every 20 minutes???

Summary:
I do like how Risen being mob free for miners with lovely tall trees etc.
I don't like how there seems to be no fruit/stones on island, again could be random luck and a lot of other players being there since it's new. Love to hear if anyone's found any there.

You must be really short if you have to jump but yes, the bot is a bit too high.

The scoring scheme seems to be the same as in mining iron missions everywhere in the universe:
I - 5% chance of 1 point
II - 25% chance of 1 point
III - 1 point
IV - 2 points etc.;
and like multiple iron missions on different planets, it seems to award 2 points instead of 3 for a V occasionally - perhaps it's a 'platform issue'.

Also, deposits found elsewhere on Cyrene count for this mission. You however need to visit Risen Island first to complete the mission step.

The rewards seem to follow the standard scheme as well - Rank 1 gives a choice of 0.30 PED Prospecting or 0.30 PED Mining.

I was with the impression that area bellow skylabs is no not allowed for mining, because claims will go up there.
About the invisible obstacles, it turns that some objects are invisible in lower gfx mode.

Cyrene's invisible objects only happened on Risen (so far) for me.
Here's screenies of my graphic settings which I haven't changed in weeks.
Visual-Settings_2016-12-11.jpg

So today I changed all those graphics settings to Medium and did a quick run on flat areas
Only 1 hidden object, if anyone else cares to run there I was heading east at the time.
138674, 81416, 105 hidden object trapped me (I didn't try mining there)

That can't mine here message happened all over island.
Happens evenly on both skylab-covered half and the open-air half too.

138568, 81323, 106 [System]: You can not mine in this location.
138566, 81323, 106 (probe dropped and no bumps/hidden objects)

138460, 81323, 105 [System]: You can not mine in this location.
138460, 81322, 105 (turned ~65degrees and probe dropped and no bumps/hidden objects)

138669, 81507, 106 [System]: You can not mine in this location.
138675, 81506, 106 (probe dropped and no bumps/hidden objects)

138459, 81505, 105 [System]: You can not mine in this location.
138461, 81507, 105 (probe dropped and no bumps/hidden objects)

Only dropped 78 probes in 26 spots using TT finders
2.20ped TT value: Lyst 102, Crude 57, Nosifer 4, Crystals: Yellow 15, Orange 2

But I did find 66 Bombardo along the way. yay!

Approximately area I quickly checked earlier, only tried about 20 drop attempts and got no mining message
Minin-RisenIsland_NoMiningMessageArea.jpg
Maybe later on I'll do more careful testing and get the exact size for 1 of the no mining msg spots

Hello Hec and everyone,

This was a really well written and informative post about the new area.

All feedback is appreciated here, as well as read and considered.

From here we can take steps to improve this area in the future.

Cheers,
Kris

Risen Island has a new game called Reach for the Top!
Find a place under a tree and log out/in and see if your on the highest tree.
RisenIsland-ReachForTheTop.jpg

So I returned to the previous hidden bump area 138674, 81416, 105 and started mapping it out.
I found items would go up an invisible wall, so I dropped the items at the base of walls.
The mining probes indicate where I got stuck and had to spam M button while running to escape.
RisenIsland-InvisibleWalls.jpg

Along the way I discovered there's invisible ceilings/walls up higher.
RisenIsland-InvisibleCeilings.jpg

I changed my settings to safe mode and logged out/in.
RisenIsland-SettingsChange_SafeMode.jpg

And voilà! I'm standing on toppa the world y'all!!!
Lol some surprises are fun!
RisenIsland-ReachForTheTop_SafeMode.jpg

Dropped down and soon found invisible walls/ceilings are all missing!
Ran around looking for others without any luck.
RisenIsland-InvisibleWalls-MIA-SafeMode.jpg

SUMMARY:
Changed settings Low, Med, High, Very High and invisible walls still missing.
Considering I couldn't find the invisible walls I originally found on Very High, and the same thing happened with Medium settings, so obviously those invisi-spots moved again on Risen Island.
Kind of reminds me of fruit/stones/dung random positions and yet I didn't pick anything so I suspect these spots aren't time dependent but graphically linked somehow to the geography.

2 additional bugs...
I was standing on top of trees (was listening for the 20 minute sea wraith bark) and bam I'm silently attacked twice quickly and there's nothing on radar, nada. After that attack the noise hasn't returned (yet).
Also the tree leaves have rain droplets hitting the leaves as a texture. Isn't that creating unnecessary overhead?
RisenIsland-RainDropsOnLeaves-TakingMysteryDamageNoMobs.jpg

Remember re-log on Risen Island and go tree hopping for fun. :hehe1:
