Risen Island has just appeared under skylabs and everyone automatically gets it's TP.
A few others said Risen Island isn't working and gives "[System]: You can not mine in this location." and so I thought I'd try Cyrene TT finders there.
And the TT finders work however... (read on)
Mining:
NPC miner bot near TP seems unresponsive, just walk directly underneath, get in 1st person view then jump. At the apex of jump click NPC to get mission dialog to show.
It has 6 ranks of Miner's Paradise missions can only get 1 at a time.
Rank 1 mission simply says: "Find any deposits worth 100 points"
LBML doesn't have a new map for Cyrene but it still works fine.
^I took 4 TT finders, 200 probes, and already had a TT extractor.
I used: 2 finders with 0.07 left on 3rd finder, and only used 120 probes.
Found 3.96 Ped TT-value of stuff.
- Crude oil 176, Lyst 172, Zornstar 11, Nosifer stone 4,
- Crystals: Yellow 29, Blue 8, Clear 1
All the above gave me 3 pts out of 100 for the rank 1 mission.
Afterwards all of the above I tried F101 finder and it works the same, plus bigger finds give points faster. The "no mining here" msg appears at same (often bumpy) spots.
Currently I've decided the rocky/mountainous outer perimeter of the island to be a waste of time/fuel/probes but it could just be randomness.
Bugs:
NPC (Miner bot) that gives missions is massive in size.
Mine-R bot only appears when really close to it and it's orange radar dot is missing until almost on it's platform.
Initially I was unable to get any dialog from Mine-R bot to appear.
However I did find that if I got right underneath it (see 1st picture in this post) then jumped up and clicked it then the mission dialog would appear. IMO This should not be necessary, just show's it's way too big and way too far off the ground surface.
Tree's with cut off roots: Looks odd/bad and there's piles and piles of them on Risen.
Tree and rock texture's are water slick: Having water cascade across all these surfaces probably just adds to player's low frame rates, can't see any point of it. I also wonder if it's adding to game lag/overhead in some manner???
Rocks are illusions: This is all rock piles on island and some even float in the air.
^Look a new mob! Floatarockilla will eat your mining claimz!
Invisible bumps: the land seems to have surfaces that make avatar run on air. Bumpy areas are never higher or wider then the illusionary rocks... So perhaps if illusion rocks got moved then perhaps those bumps are the hard walking surfaces of the rocks???
Anyways it's often near/among those invisible bumpy areas that I will see "[System]: You can not mine in this location." I just moved a foot or two and try mining again, sometimes I do a couple circles to find a mineable spot there, otherwise I'll turn 60 degrees or so and that often gets me mining again too.
Mob noises: occasionally island's sounds are broken with One Loud squawk from sea wraith. After running all over the island and seeing no mobs I have to say it's kinda odd.
(HOWEVER it could be planet-wide problem since the same single squawk happened around the new PvP zone and another time when hunting slime's immediately east too.)
I'll guess and say it seems to happen approximately every 20 minutes???
Summary:
I do like how Risen being mob free for miners with lovely tall trees etc.
I don't like how there seems to be no fruit/stones on island, again could be random luck and a lot of other players being there since it's new. Love to hear if anyone's found any there.
