A thief - since I don't want to mention names,,,

since I don't want to mention names on the forum (although I did see specific names mentioned in another post) I will just make mention to the society. Not everyone in this society is a bad person or a thief, I don't want to make everyone look bad. But currently there is a thief on the planet. The reason that I say this is because this person ripped off a person in my society. This person and my soc mate were friends, hunted together and also chatted a lot. Well,, this person needed a set of armor and my soc mate had one to sell, a set of nemesis armor was what it was. The person paid my soc mate 200 ped toward the set of armor and then, out of nowhere and for no reason unfriended my soc mate owing him 800 ped. Now since I can say names, or maybe I should say that slander in any form doesn't belong on the forum, I have my opinions but I don't push them on anyone, but if you owe someone money that you are friends with you don't just up and unfriend them one day owing them money, that's just cheap and low class. I will defer to my facebook page where I stated of this person and the situation. Feel free to send me a friends request and I will accept so that everyone can read what this person did and does to people in EU. Just send a friends request to Alric Bezel and I will accept. I think it's important to know how are the crooks in EU and not to feed them.

we have been lucky in not having many scammers here. sadly this has started to change hopefully we can stay on top of it and prevent them making any ped.

So your soc mate handed over 800ped gear with only 200 paid up front ? Not a terribly good idea when real money value is concerned.

Also, can you PM me the name so I stay clear of that scammer?

Yeah well they were friends, it wasn't like is was a stranger. my soc mate isn't a dummy, it was his friend, he was just trying to help his friend out and that's what he got for helping his friend. I mean, the world isn't necessarily a great place, but I won't let go of the fact that the world is what we make it to be.

I'll send a pm straight on.

Never trust anyone online. So called mates in games will screw you 10x over given the chance. Eve Online is another game where that is rife.

Anyway, I'm stood next to you ingame, was asking what gear that is you wear and how ya got it ? (made it, looted it or bought it ?) I wouldnt mind a set.

So to add to it, this person from that robbed my friend decided to pretend that he was his son to get out of owing my soc mate that 800 ped. I am sure that lykke and ms9 have read or can read what I put on my facebook page, where the names and soc details are listed. This person was also pleading with my soc mate to remove him from this scammer tag he has created for himself, which of course after today's events has just made things worse and another support case has been sent into MA. He also wants a soc mate of his to leave the soc under false pretenses. Be careful of this person, he adds a 10% healer loot setting to the team loot setting, which then give 10% of your loot to everyone in the team. I would think after getting so thoroughly cold busted that they would just own up, but apparently this person will not give up. Spread the word and watch your butt.

It's a shame how money can tear apart friendships both in-game and in real life. I've seen lots of broken friendships in EU. For various reasons. It's sad when someone loses a friend over money.... a spouse/partner over in-game drama... and a great past time and hobby after something goes to shit in-game.

Hopefully your friend doesn't lose too much faith in Entropians and is still able to enjoy the game on every level possible.

There's an old saying.... "How do you get rid of an arsehole? Lend him 20 bucks." As long as that person owes you money you won't have to worry about dealing with them again.... At least your friend no longer has to worry about unknowingly having a back-stabbing arsehole as a "friend".

Good luck to him/her

Thanks for the thought Menace. Yeah he was alright from the start with what happened, in his words "that's a hard lesson to learn", but really, they were friends, it's not like it was just someone he just met. My soc mate isn't a young spring chicken, so he knows of life and that people aren't always trustworthy but this one just came out of nowhere, the unfriending one day for no reason other than the owing of 800 ped.

Sucks that he got ripped off for 800 ped, but be glad it was a low amount and not half his kingdom. I learned my lesson back in 2006 with a bad mentor took off with my fireforge.

Ouch, yeah getting ripped off like that sucks, happened to me before too, was a set of ghost that I lent to a disciple and that was when ghost cost about 700-800 ped. But we live and we learn, although it makes us sick it's a still a good experience, I guess. I don't lend things anymore and really that's all you can do, ma states not to accept trades without getting what you want / are paying for during the trade so that they aren't responsible to try and figure out what happened in game and outside of game, which I can't blame them for that.

The PEDs are the indifferent part of the scam.... I could just imagine one of my in-game friends. I mean.... we consider ourselves RL friends. I have 6 or 7 in-game friends whom I REALLY consider friends. (I have a few RL friends in game too... but we're talking in-game here). If one of those people were to rip me off I'd be devastated. I can honestly say the betrayal by a "friend" would be far worse than the $ amount in itself.... What a bummer. :(

I've had in-game friends offer to loan me stuff. I've always refused... not because i'm dis-honorable... but I can't help but think about... "What if I DC... or have a power outage due to a storm... or die of a heart attack!". I'd hate for one of my friends to feel that I've done that to them. If someone loaned me a mod-fap and I died of a heart attack my wife would NEVER be able to log-in with my avatar waiting for for someone to PM me with a "Hey! WTF happened to you? and where's my mod fap?!"

My wife does however have instructions on who to contact if something WERE to happen to me so that I could be liquidated and PEDs withdrawn for her.

I can only say what other said - don't trust anyone in game. Not even people you think you know or have known in game for years. Not even people you talk with in private either.

It is sad, but that's how it is when real money is on 'the table'.

I've seen it too through years in game - and sometimes it gets really really ugly.

If you hand over items to others to borrow or you give another person your login details it will all be seen as 'your own action'. If you trade - always check the trade window before accepting etc. And yet there are so many other ways to scam people, unfortunately.

Unless there are very good proofs and screen shots etc. there are hardly anything to do - and even then, there's the hard way writing to MindArk support or even the police.

Sorry for your friend's lost :(

yes be very careful with this dude, please do not teamhunt with ppl that you dont thrust since the person who does the most damage will recieve mu items that appear in globals. This person will NOT share..

Same person has done the same thing to me, but luckily it was easy to see through. Gave him a flight to Arkadia while acting like a new player and wanted to hunt universal wide with healer loot, with a certain percentage and "heal your self once" to share little loot across planets. Didn't really work when they claimed of never finding the mob they were suppose to be hunting and ended up getting too much loot. That made it kind of obvious what they were doing and also while dying frequently to heal up and get more percentage without doing anything. Also been offered some deal about armors for collateral. When I confronted him about it and said it wasn't fair and wasn't working , he removed me from the friendlist.
