Cyrene Citizen of the Month - November 2012

Lykke TheNun

Well-Known Member
Each month we are nominating a 'Cyrene Citizen of the Month', to show our appreciation to those who are doing something extra on Cyrene.

The title and prize for November 2012 goes to:

- who has been nominated for his dedication to Planet Cyrene and the community. He is always helpful to others and loyal to the planet, and have a large knowledge about Cyrene from creatures, loot to locations. People say it's always a pleasure to do business with TunerS and that he is a valuable asset to our community.

We met up at Southern Base, were TunerS was handed out the prize,
a Lancer v1 (L).

But when we arrived to the base we were met by an angry Den Mother, glaring at us with hungry eyes. We discussed how to 'get it' as TunerS was afraid he might not survive if he tried. I had to tell him that for some reason all creatures on Planet Cyrene seem to be my friends - at least they never agro me - so don't expect me to be the running bait for your amusement :nana:

"I think she has her eyes on YOU, TunerS!"

"Say hallo to my little friend..."
TunerS has been playing Entropia Universe since April, 2008. He had a few long breaks from the game in between, and the longest one was about 9 months.

"I moved to Planet Cyrene when i returned from my last "vacation" from Entropia. I think it was 2nd week since Cyrene was released to public," TunerS tells me.

What are your most enjoyable moments on Planet Cyrene?" I asked TunerS.

"Most enjoyable..ehh? Probably the time when I sold my DragonFly blueprint to master chief for quite a lot of PED, and like 6 hours later the price on that vehicle crashed. He's probably silently cursing me for that trade till this very moment... LOL ...just kidding. For me the most enjoyable moment is to find something valuable that could be used in crafting or in any other activity on Cyrene."

"... as if he was born with it!"
"What do you like most about Planet Cyrene?" was my next question.

"That each Cyrene specific material is needed in crafting. If players can afford to collect them then it can give a very nice profit in a long term. Also I like the design of the Cyrene creatures. Mature Rhino Beetle and Wiles are just insanely cool." :goodbee:

"Trying to park your vehicle on a cloth roof might not be the smartest idea!"

"What could be changed?"
"Some creature attack rate for sure. For example Fierce Tide Claw and Horned Bird is hitting more times in a minute than Atrox. It's just not normal for such a low level creature.
Also there should be more detailed newcomer quests that asks them to explore more, not just around HQ base. After i finished those quests i was very confused about where i should go next - not knowing if there are any other quests or not is frustrating. Newcomer with almost no knowledge about this game will be even more confused about what he is supposed to do next.
Lootable PVP zone is practically dead. I think that the main reason is that 90% of all that area's surface is covered with lava (water) and steep hills. It's almost impossible to mine there. Only thing that players can do there is to hunt one specific creature that is not available in normal areas. Maybe you can remove some of that lava or even lower the height of those hills.
Increase the size of some creature spawns. For example Drill Bot 1001, Scout Bot 779, Scout Bot Collector XT, Crystal Pedes, Pleak (haven't even seen more than one at the same time and only in one specific area) - these creature spawns are way too small for even one player to hunt in a decent speed. Not to mention if three or more players decide to hunt the same creature at the same time. Way too much roaming around which makes players bored, which leads to changing activity or even leaving the planet".
Very nice suggestions and information, TunerS, thank you!
When I asked if he had anything else to add, he replied:
"Cyrene developers should interact more with players. One announcement a month is not enough. Let us know what are you up to. Even if it's just a daily quote, for example "There will be new creature added with our next update. Here is a sneak peek." Maybe appear in game after updates to check if everything is ok and collect some live feedback from players like you did from the start. But don't give any specific details about future updates to just one or few players but make a public announcements about it so everyone would know. It will make a more friendly atmosphere and also increase player activity in forum and in game".
This is definitely something we will look into, TunerS - and some very valid points!

"Uhh, where are you headed to now??"

"I guess that will teach the evil Den a lesson or two ..."
:mur:

Again, a big thank you to TunerS for all his help
and dedication for Cyrene
:shock2:

How to become Cyrene Citizen of the Month
This title will be given to a dedicated player on Cyrene, who is doing something out of the usual to make the planet a nice place to be for newcomers, creating some great events for other players, providing the Cyrene Team with valuable information about the planet or/and suggestions of how to improve Cyrene etc.
It could be something completely different, of course, as long as it is a positive approach to improve other players experiences on Planet Cyrene.
The Cyrene Team will make the nomination for the Cyrene Citizen of the Month, but you are always welcome to write me if you have suggestions, with a name of the person and the reason for why you believe this person deserves to be nominated.
Thank you =)
