Cyrene Dynamic Upgrade Map and The Next Planet Parter VU

Hey guys,

I wanted to give everyone an update about what's been happening with the Cyrene Dynamic Upgrade Map and how it's effected by the next Planet Partner VU.

Cyrene Dynamic Upgrade Map

So we'll start with the Dynamic Upgrade Map - it's been a minute since we've had an update to this so I wanted to address this and say that we have been keeping this up-to date internally and making sure that everything is being counted. In the future we will keep players more apprised and keep everyone in the loop. That being said, around the same time as the VU/Mini Patch we'll put out the next update to it here on the forums.

Onto the changes themselves, there wasn't as much activity in some areas, that we as developers thought there would have been, though 3 areas managed to perceiver and move to rank 2: Robot Base Z.R.Q., Great Plains, and Zyn Forest. Congratulations to all Cyrene players for unlocking more of the upgrades!

However, in the next Planet Partner VU only the Robot Base Z.R.Q. and Great Plains unlocks will be coming with the next Planet Partner VU. We feel that releasing the Zyn Forest Upgrade, otherwise known as Epic Chain Mission 3, shouldn't come at this time as Epic Chain Missions 1 and 2 need to be more polished, add more high level items to the final bosses, and feel over-all more complete for players until we can move forward. It will still be unlocked, and will remain so until it is released, only this upgrade has been pushed back.

Next Planet Partner VU

Now we had quite a lot planned for the next update, some of it I personally teased on here early in its development cycle. In a post I had made I outlined a few of the things we wanted to accomplish for the next VU in a post here: >>LINK<< , however, sometimes in development things don't always go according to plan. While some of these thing were achievable, others have been put on hold due to reasons outside of our control. I'll touch on what panned out and will come in a future VU.

- A big update to the Cyrene Dynamic Upgrade Map

Yes - This is coming with the next Planet Partner VU, along with 2 of the 3 unlocks that were achieved.

- Hub progression - Cypher of Ryvox Chain Finale

No - This is coming in a future Planet Partner VU, I can't get into specifics but the real stopping issue is that final reward/reward system is in limbo.

I would like to mention that there will be a small improvement to the Hub-Side Proving Ground coat that will be a start to something that I hope everyone will like. Lilmc will talk a bit more about this in another post.

- Continued Improvements and Quality of Life Updates

Yes - This is coming in the next Planet Partner VU, as with every VU we try to improve whatever aspects of Cyrene that we can.

- More recipes in the Cyrene Blueprints Book

No - This is coming in a future Planet Partner VU, however, we are working with MindArk to make sure that all recipes currently available can more easily be discovered on Planet Cyrene.

- Mission continuation for: S.I. Heart, Neff's Stim Pack

No - This is coming in a future Planet Partner VU, similar to the Cypher of Ryvox Chain Finale, the real issue is the rewards are in limbo. Although, there is one point to mention:

It will be easier to create the combine for Zorra's HK. A reduced material cost and removed the part from Lazidol that seems to never drop.

There are still several other new things coming in next Planet Partner VU, and one of my favorite is the new Pleaks, who will get their own missions and have reasons to be hunted outside of chain missions as well.

Booths

The last thing I wanted to touch on was the Booths, and while we've had a plan in place for booths for a while now >>LINK<< it's not as easy as it may appear to have a system in place like the one we're envisioning. We're still working on the best way to get these into the hands of the right players, as well as improving the overall look of the Booths and Shopping areas.

There are other things happening behind the scenes, but nothing that I can share more about at this time. Please feel free to leave any and all questions in this thread and I'll do what I can to get them answered.

Regards,
Kris

I can live without the hub and booths but I'm little disappointed there is no crypto tokens for Cyrene. 2 out of 5 promises is good. I guess it is ok to love and hate a planet at the same time. For Pluto is only love.
I think you need someone to scream fro time to time: "Work faster!" :shock1:

Thanks Kris, all is clear ! We have to wait for some improvment that we wait since a long time, but it seems you work on them.

About :

Excellent, but what about the Lesser Crystal ? Another Weakened Crystal was looted 1 week ago, but nobody looted the Lesser Crystal since many years. Last Weakened crystal was looted on merfolken, usualy they was on Zyn'dos, did you change the loot table ?

How to make the Greater Crystal if we can loot both Crystals ? Maybe an addiditional mission where we can get the Lesser Crystal will fix this issue. I don't know, help us :)

Epic Chain Mission 1 and 2 are Zora's Epic and Tanhok Epic, right ? You plan to change the final reward or you speak about another epic ?

I'll talk to MA about this, there are some loot adjustments that will come with the VU as well but I'll see what we can do in the short term (drop rates) and long term (alternate acquirement).

Yes, those are the Epic Chain Missions 1 and 2. I don't plan to change the final reward, but rather offer two additional things:

1) Summoned creatures, Lazidol and the Empis Wasp Queen, should have better high end loot.
2) A way to upgrade / change / customize the final reward.

Thanks to everyone for playing on Planet Cyrene and leaving their feedback/comments/questions on these forums.

Cheers,
Kris

Awesome :cheer:

Yeah, some upgrade of these end items will be great.

About Zora's weapon, some more big missions for make an adjusted Zora's weapon + another missions for improved Zora's weapon + another missions for modified Zora's weapon + another missions for make an augmented Zora's weapon and finally another missions for make a perfected Zora's weapon.

About neff's fap, same way.

Like this way you can keep for a long time alot players on the planet. Mission can be hunting, mining or crafting where we have to do/loot/reward some specials items for make the upgrade. All is possible :D

Keep going !

well.......... ty for this news update. My replying here seems to be more like sending an annual Christmas card than regular participation these days, as I don't even remember when I was last on Cyrene any more. It was when the new 'oil spawn' wasn't working and the dire weed mission or whatever was causing repeated error messages.

On the topic of booths, yes I am interested in trying out having one, but when you write "it's not as easy as it may appear to have a system in place like the one we're envisioning. We're still working on the best way to get these into the hands of the right players, as well as improving the overall look of the Booths and Shopping areas.", what do you really mean? What do you expect of the 'right players' and why do you have to want the 'best way'? Surely even a good way would be satisfactory; it is not as if we have great expectations in this regard, and neither should you have great expectaions of us either, given the circumstances. How is the stable owner doing, for example - is there any demand for pet buffs? What would demand be for whatever a booth can sell? Have you at least cleared with MA the idea of having a large number of slots (and space) so that a large number of potential items for sale can at least be tried out over a reasonable period to see what there is a market for? Is the only advantage over the auction house that of having no fee for having items waiting for longer to be sold?
Basically, what do you envision?

Once again, I wave from an interplanetary distance away, but hope you find my comments and questions helpful... :)

Hey guys,

Let me answer some of these as I can:

Cyrene Dynamic Upgrade Map. Is there picture for that this time?

Should be coming out this week.

Any news about disciple armor?

I have everything setup for it, but it's not something that we can implement without MA.

I thought that the proposed stats on Entropiawiki were fair and inline with the other disciple armors on other planets. The armor look is finished as well and hopefully it'll be something that is coming soon, we tried for this VU but it ended up not being enough time this update.

Is the only advantage over the auction house that of having no fee for having items waiting for longer to be sold?
Basically, what do you envision?

This is a lot of questions, so I'll try and sort them and answer as I can:

Q: What do you expect of the 'right players' and why do you have to want the 'best way'?
A: The right players are the players that won't just get shops for resale and will actively try to promote their shop and sell items to players on Cyrene. The experience should be a positive one that doesn't have a lot of hoops to jump through and/or issues in it. That's the 'best' part of it, not having it be some kind of bug fest that has a lot of hangups and issues with any items or PED being lost.

Q: How is the stable owner doing, for example - is there any demand for pet buffs?
A: While the Stable is on Cyrene, it wasn't something we created or really had a bigger part in more than MA telling us we needed to set it up in a certain way, although we did try and make it look nice and showcase some of the Cyrene pets. That being said if the stable owners want to reach out to us I'd like to hear ways that we can try to help them out.

Q: What would demand be for whatever a booth can sell?
A: I think that the shop proprietors can determine what they'd like to sell given the shop parameters.

Q: Have you at least cleared with MA the idea of having a large number of slots (and space) so that a large number of potential items for sale can at least be tried out over a reasonable period to see what there is a market for?
A: We've cleared this initial trial of temporary booth ownership and depending on how this goes we can adjust from there. If there are players that feel strongly about what these shops need to be successful I'm all ears.

Q: Is the only advantage over the auction house that of having no fee for having items waiting for longer to be sold?
A: This is something that every player will have a different perspective on, so I don't think I can provide a fair answer that isn't biased. I will say that players have been asking to have shops for a very long time so we're trying to meet in the middle.

For my vision:

Alright, just to give context, I'll layout the ideal situation of having a booth and no issues happening from getting the deed to us taking back the deed at the end of the 3 month period:

So, you read on the CyreneForum about how you can get a booth for 3 months by being a generally nice and knowledgeable player on Planet Cyrene or by winning some event. You understand all the rules and know that this shop ownership is just temporary and you can't control more than one shop.

Amazing! You just won/received/earned your booth, among a few others and you're pretty happy about it. Kris personally hands you the deed and you feel in awe of his COSMIC TELEPORTATION POWERS but remain calm and are excited to sell items on Cyrene. You have a fair few months of sales and you get some amount of notoriety that comes with being such a great merchant. It's coming to end of your tenure as a booth owner and you dutifully remove all your items from the shop and at the start of the next VU the deed has been removed from your inventory. You didn't lose any items and you didn't have to pay any rent or fees and the experience was a good one.

Now, in that very short overview scenario, nothing has gone wrong, no items were lost, no PED was invested and everyone had a positive experience.

In order to make that happen I believe that more needs to be in place from not just us but from MindArk as well.

Once again, I wave from an interplanetary distance away, but hope you find my comments and questions helpful... :)

I mean you're an outsider looking in, similar to myself but of course in a different context. I think that all feedback from players in EU is important and who knows where the next great suggestion can come from.

I hope this answers everyone's questions.

Cheers,
Kris

thank you for all the infos/answers and i'm personaly fine about the booth system :) Just make sure the item isn't tradable or tt-able and is all good. I see some issue with someone forgetting about the item in a booth before date limit though in this scenario. (there's always that guy^^), If so exept to be a pain, u could give back items to the owner ? Than you should do a fee in this scenario so people are more carefull about it.

I can shed some light on this :)
The stable has been quite a disappointment for us because mindark hasn't delivered what they promised us by a longshot. It started out ok'ish but when mindark asked a huge fee for adding a buff to the stable, a fee that is higher then the possible income from that buff it got tough. Then they added usefull buffs not in the stables but on rings and pills and weapons so it really killed the stable. This is on top of the features that were promised 3,5 years ago but we didn't get like trading, specialised training, shopping boots, stalls, other unique features, pet battles. So all in all buying the stable leaves a pretty sour taste in the mouth.

On the other hand the Cyrene team has been awesome, it's the nicest looking stable in the universe, and having some of the pets there is really awesome! Also the location is great!

When we bought the stable we had a vision of helping the planet grow, mostly through the added shopping boots, making it easier for people to buy and sell items that are hard to do through auction. But in the end there wasn't even room to place a shopkeeper on the stable grounds (like 5 minutes work for Mindark).

The thing is that it's all in mindark's hands, and I don't think a planet partner can do much more then they already did, it's not like we can have stuff added that other stable owners on other planets can't have.

If you could persuade mindark to stop the costs for adding buffs to the stables (which would increase mindarks income as well), or to add item points to stables so we could put up some shopkeepers with taming supplies that would be great, not only for us but also for cyrene.

(and i concur: with booths make sure there are a lot of item points available to sell stuff)

Man that sux! I would enjoy some HP buffs, for a place where rings are disabled and pills too costly to use.

Thank you for taking the time to write this post, sheds some good light on the current state of the stable.

We appreciate the kind words, I'll make sure team receives the praise =)

I'll put the stable on the docket to talk to MA about for our next meeting.

Cheers,
Kris
