Lancer v1 (L)

A new toy! Feels and sounds mostly like a chopper, although probably a bit easier to control. Still I counted all trees around ARC HQ before found the right style :)

As you can see, it's possible to go underwater, but unreal to control it there - it doesn't go forward and to surface it you need to hold both Up and either Left or Right - Up alone won't help. Ok, it wasn't meant to be a submarine ;)

Sorry for quite jerky video, I was too excited while making it. If you feel giddy watching it, consider it a special effect as if you're really flying :D

Very cool! :)
I'd have been excited too, hehe. So I don't think anyone's gonna blame you for that on the video.

Way cool video, and I liked the nose dive into the water and watching you get out again.

Glad you're having fun with it. I think it requires a skill to really navigate it well. I had fun with mine and discovered that when you hit the stop key, it doesn't really stop, but moves sideways, so I had to practice a bit to get it to do what I wanted it to do. :D But ya, I agree that it's like a chopper, and sounds like one too.

I also let my media partners (Syer & Fang) test it out as well, although I was quite skeptical to turn it over to Syer, because he does things with Quad Wings that shouldn't be possible - like fly them upside down on top of water, and a host of other unmentionables. However, he did fine, except trying to land it on a turret.

Thanks for the vid, although it has hit me like a ton of bricks....

I love the chopper sound --- on my chopper! How can that sound be used 1:1 for the Lancer? It's a complete travesty in my opinion. Is it just me? I wouldn't mind so much if you had taken some other generic motor sound, but the wonderful swoosh of the rotor blades - used on a vehicle without any? It's helicopter blasphemy...

Hoping for a fix - it has to be one of the many errors that unexplicably slip in, surely?

Hey :) There is a blade on the Lancer. It's sitting underneath it though and not on top. It confused me too first - but when you look at it from the ground when it's in the air, you see it :goodbee:

Yes, it's visible at 01:32 against the sky :).
Although I agree that that little blade probably would make quite different sound, of higher tone.

How about keep this sound but play it twice as fast? :)

I believe Agis mentioned the sound at ARC HQ at the time of receiving his reward and testing it out, and Ed said that he was going to get his sound guys on it, so it's highly possible that we'll have a different kind of sound on the Lancer in the future.

Thanks Lykke :)
Yes, quick fix of playing the sound faster, Svarog ;)
..and thanks Mindstar too - I hope so.. and my shock is lessoned and turned into a smile by the quick responses here.

I realise lots of things are not scientifically accurate in EU, and that getting the underlying systems right is probably much more important right now, so I appreciate your time on this...

Gratz on the new toy!!

Love the style of the vehicle.... :loveshower: But thats about as far as I like it.. Normally I stay away from the criticism, but I think i'll add as much constructive kind as I can..

Yep I agree the sound has to change.. the higher pitch I think will fix it.. Next the flight dynamics for this vehicle seem all wrong.. It shouldn't be a helio clone. With a booster on the back it should mimic more of a vtol with the blades underneath and then zip through the air like a motor bike on steroids!! :) With the lean in the corners and the nose pointing more in the direction of flight rather then like a helio... ;)

But then again I think this was supposed to be a helio the cyrene way, so then it makes absolute sense.. :D

There's a two-seater at Base Camp Epsilon that I'm pretty certain will be one of ours to use. It looks more like a proper heli. :)
Ah, then this one should be the motor bike on steroids!! :loveshower: Oh yeah now I remember it.. That thing is sweet looking.. Can't wait for that one to be looted!! :woohoo:

Heh yea, right about now I'd even trade my quad-wing for that two seater. XD

What do you think...? "Javelin"
It fits the naming scheme so far at least, haha.

Yes, the sweet looking black 2-seater helicopter on the pad at Camp Epsilon is called the Dragonfly, and that will one day be available. I included a photo of it in my Cyrene Covert Ops "Unfinished Business - Part 3" episode, but in that pic, there were 2 of the helicopters on ground in an area at the City of Janus. :D

Aah, I hadn't made it that far in the reading yet, plus I apparently started out of order. XD

I like that name better actually. And is certainly very fitting. :)

If you're reading the Covert Ops stuff, then I've numbered the episodes in the order they should be read, starting with the first episode in the EntropiaTimes magazine last June (Secrets and Covert Operations) where we focused the issue on Cyrene. I gave a link to access each episode in the "Covert Ops Storytelling" section of the forum.

With each issue, more is revealed about Cyrene that includes exclusive storyline, photos, graphic sketches, and other goodies. The last episode, we left you with a cliffhanger, but the next episode will continue after hardcore launch and our first Covert Ops Role-Playing Event in-game.

Sorry to take it off-topic, but thought since Rathius was new I would clue him in a bit.

However, I have to say that I like Alien's idea about the Lancer, especially since we have a nice helicopter on tap in the future. I like the idea of an air speed bike of sorts, and that the navigation of the vehicle should not be like a helicopter - doesn't look like one either, but for sure a speed bike, and I love how it looks - it's wicked.
