Mission Terminals

Well kris, my opinion isn't strong, just a suggestion. That being said, man, it would make it a lot less time consuming running around all the time.

Do all the other planets have everything just lumped into one area so you can roll out of bed, tuck the fat folds into your stretched out nighty, grab a doughnut and click a button and be done with everything, or do you have to run around a bit on them as well? Why don't we put one huge mission terminal right next to the storage terminal so I don't have to even move one footstep to do the turn in missions. Hey, my area of the planet really could use some help, can you get me some zorn ingots? umm I have no clue what the condition of your piece of the planet is, because im too 'inconvenienced' to go look, Ill take your word on it and just throw my stuff into this donation box on the side of the road here, there we go. Maybe we could do just like an auto pay so you don't even have to log in, just every day x material is taken out of your storage and y tokens are added? That'd make it real easy.

If people are too lazy to spend a few minutes teleporting around to do a mission, well that's on them. The planet should not have to terraform around them because they want to bask in the sun like a fat manatee instead of god forbid.. put some effort into an 'accomplishment'.

all or most ark iron style missions are in one terminal it can be found at various tps firebases as well as the quarry. some dont have it...

all i know is that i hated doing caly missions when they didnt have a mission terminal but the mission npcs had much worse placement than cyrene ones... any and all older players should take a step back and compare.

heard alot of old players complain about losing the spirt of entropia and yet here you are trying to remove it even further...

i agree that its nice to have missions at a common area in the terminals like ark, because they are all ifn missions.

all that being said i dont know... was just drinking some coffee after a nap and ended up here some how..

hi all
we have friend list for avatars, why not a contact list for npc?
when you meet any npc for the fisrt time, ask "join my contact list", the npc may accept or say "do this" or "find that" for me before .
then, from this contact list, you can see if npc is: - inactive or avaible for any mission, with a timer when needed, -where it is with a waypoint for when you forget where the tempo are, (or if like said in an other post npc moves, will be crazy but fun)
open a comunicator or a com terminal to talk to any npc ...
npc's may also use that system to call every avatar in their contact list for some special mission, event ..

edited out, Don't feel like arguing with online jackasses about stupid crap that doesn't really matter. Kris said he is watching thread, next I wait for what Kris thinks is a good idea.

The aim of a mission is to do the mission, not spend half the time collecting and handing in the mission.

I don't mind running around for iron missions when u could be hunting for a day or more between handing them in, but the daily mission really need a central terminal. Some of those daily mission take more time to collect, travel to spawn, travel back, hand in mission than they take to actually do the mission.

While we are on the topic of missions, Kris.
What is the significance of some being 24 hours and others being 21 hours?
Is it possible to make the daily's all 21 hours? Since we are wishing and all.
This makes it possible for a person to roughly start the mission the same time every day. With a 24 hr clock the start time gets walked back every day, and eventually one will be forced to skip a day just to re align the mission clock to their schedule.

Whether the missions are all one location or a few, you still can only really do ONE at a time and will walk the clock back. Slither, which mission takes more time to head back and forth than to actually kill for the mission? Just curious. Are you talking the drillbot ones? Could move the NPC for them closer to the actual mission too. Even if it's at an all in one terminal, you still have to march all the way there, do the mission, then where? Next mission, or back to turn in? Either way you may save a minute or three at most. Not a lot of time 'wasted' when you are on for hours at a shot, unless you are only able to be on an hour or two a day. Then I can see where it becomes significant.

I agree that it currently is a bit chaotic and some streamlining is in order. I am confident that a workable compromise will be found. Just hoping that the "work" aspect doesn't get to take over people's minds completely. Kris and the team certainly have a big wallchart with all the paths drawn on, and after staring at it long enough and a little help from preferred substances the solution will fall from it :D

The thing with making the missions easier (for example the daily token missions) is that more people will do them after the change, lowering the markup on the cyrene mission tokens, which makes the game harder for newcomers to the game.

haha Sostoned. It is funny that you brought up old times. We didn't have missions in old times. I started playing in April of 05 and we just ran around playing for no particular reason I guess. I quit and sold out in 08 and started playing again in 2010 and they had missions, so I've been doing missions ever since.
Oh, and old times, we didn't have vehicles to get us around, it was very possible to get stuck at an outpost cause a lot of them didn't have tp's. I remember one in particular that a lot of noobs got stuck at, east of FT Argus.
Loot really sucked between 05 and 08, no question about that, and the number of nerfs back then, my god, it sucked, I have no clue how the game made it through it all, I know plenty of people that quit, then came back after few years. usually involves that account being deleted email from mindark and logging back in, lol.

not.

At the peril of beating a dead horse, but being reminded of and dreading it at every looming update. The reduced map might encourage thinking it's a good idea. But it's not, it's horrible. The old Caly way is genuine gameplay, where you have to visit them sometimes out in the sticks. Dailies are a different beast, suggestion was put out above. Would have more to say, but it would lead off topic. Just hoping for the day we get the big map back and all the good work of the past not thrown away. What's the point of having the best storylines if you're trodding through thinking you're walking down a factory line.

It's definitely a fine line, and we're working to find the right balance between efficiency and story with the mission NPCs, more updates on the way in the next PP VU.

I don't really mind have or not terminals, but some brokers are way out of any tp range a good example is the crystal pede and old paneleon brokers. Could at least put a tp there or are we heading to Toulan model?

They'll be swarmed by the most annoying pets all the time, especially yapping puppies :p
Atrox, Argonaut, Molisk, Primordial Longu mission brokers are good models. You don't have to go there every day. It's nice and quiet and you can start hunting around them without being pestered by pets and their even more annoying owners all the time. Maybe except me, but I promise I'll never have one of those strongbox nuisances. I don't know that other planet you're talking about.
