Questions from a Cyrenean

I am a miner but...

Would it be possible for Cyrene to use a crafting system like the old one in Project Entropia? You know ressource -> component -> construction part -> item

And I would be very happy, if there would be again 3-5 different BPs for every part.
From Calypso we already have so many BPs for components, but they aren't used. And it was sooo cool, that all the crafters began to recalculate their crafting materials, when a miner got a bigger finding - because of the now again different Markup. I remember, when the crafters got nervous, because one miner found an Cobalt ATH... *grin* You could hear the clicking of the calculators throughout the major crafting places. ^.^

I know, not many people remind the time, where crafting a Lasergun was a bit more complicated as now... 2 ingots Iron + 2 ingots Belkar + 1 bottle Melchi = a precise Jester D-1 Lasergun
And I think, THIS will bring more people to Cyrene then some new weapons. When people have again to think about how to craft cheap/effective. And have to talk with others. And need miners to bring the needed ressources.

Back then, they told us, the crafting system was much to complicated. Really? That was 8 years ago. And you can ask anyone - the gamers of today are so much more intelligent! o_O
And the computers... Okay, you know, back then, the Dell Dimensions XPS was a dream for gamers. An Intel Prescott P4E with 3.4 GHz, 1024 MB DDR2 RAM and the brand new ATI Radeon X800 XT with 256 MB! And not to forget the gigantic Maxtor 250 GB harddrive!
... okay, okay... But you know, to recreate an interesting crafting system like back then, you don't need new systems. Just a bunch of BPs. It shouldn't be a problem. The components we already have. Please create a fitting system with some meaning.

Ah, and by the way: DO NOT FORGET TO IMPLEMENT SOME MORE FUN.
This isn't a shooter game, so hunting is not all.

Well. about the shops - those up close *where alot of traffic moves around* 6 months - use it or lose it ... to many abandoned looking shops in game already , if u want to make a million ped profit -get a shop in the back, less of an eye sore to the rest of us , what u do with ur money is ur buisness , until it affects the rest of us , personally i love seeing over priced items on AU and no one bidding - knowing that everytime that reseller post an outrageous price they have to eat it :) MA thanx u to :) .. lag..lag..lag.. MUST be fixed!! ask FF14 about thier multi million $$ development and how lag sank them ... maybe because it (Cyrene) is not *officially* released yet ... must be fixed ... creature loot .. best hunting planet for me for the past 2 months .. bp's ..yes plz , so we can use what we loot and mine and with the current low success rate (atm) of crafting (in game) 10 clicks on 1 bp may or may not give us an item . btw - Cyrene clothes r great ! ... space hunting - love it :) all in all imo Cyrene is absolutely on the ball with creating a sci-fi planet , not a *grand theft auto* themed one , we have that on earth already , in rl . hf gl all :)

As a part time crafter, I would disagree and say that adding more layers to crafting, IMO, would be a bad move especially for a new planet. It increases costs, time and effort to produce a single item, and creates bottlenecks meaning that it's likely you won't be able to craft the item you're looking for on any given day. Simpler recipes stimulate more crafting, and this is doubly important for a developing planet whose resources may not always be found reaily on auction. More crafting leads to more demand for resources (better mining). Complicating recipes leads to less demand for resources.
