Registration Update

We planned on having an updated section on the website with more information. Unfortunately the person who was in charge of this was a minor accident this Friday. I am very glad to report he is ok with only minor injury. I am told he plans to come in over the weekend to finish up but if not I will make sure someone else does on Monday.

That said, we do also plan to release the launch date some time early this next week. Possibly on Monday if all works out well with our testing. This will also help for Players to understand that although you can register early for Cyrene, the Planet has yet to launch. We have not promoted Planet Cyrene since our 2 page Article on PC Gamer Magazine a few years ago so we have not been expecting anyone outside of the Universe to really know much about us. We do however plan on marketing soon in various ways because of our upcoming release, and we will make it clear to all new players that although Cyrene is not live, they can visit other Planets in the Entropia Universe. We will make it clear to them that Space Travel will be involved when wanting to visit Cyrene and what that entails. Along with that we will inform them that if they do not wish to have to go through the Space travel, that they will have to wait until the Planet goes live.

Hope this helps clear up a few things.

Honestly dont market it until we "beta" test it live. MA can always screw things up even if they work on your test servers look at the hover pods on Arkadia obviously they worked fine on A-teams test servers as they had great pics but when it went live for us they looked like hover poo's. DON"T TRUST MA NOT TO SCREW THINGS UP. Get it up and running and make sure the economy works first. Hell even MA is scared to promote calypso for the same reasons right now. Look how long it took Arkadia to get there economy to go. and the other planets that are still hurting.

I wouldn't have them pre-registering and starting on other planets not if an actual release is that close. Because once they have some items and stuff especially stuff they can't sell like stacks of materials they wont want to jump to cyrene when it goes live and they dont want to pay for a mothership.

@Ed no worries if he can't update the website, considering circumstances we can wait. Correction I can wait dunno about rest of the mob :)

Now this is intresting. Blaming MA over something that is more than likely to be the fault of the Arkadia team.

Rex sitting in your chair do really know the full facts? Do you really think you are qualified to give such advice?

I agree with Rex, why advertise/register the planet now when all your hopeful new players will spawn on Calyspo therefore taking the decay money away from your planet.

Oh yeah and I can't wait to hear some news next week!!! :)

Rex brings up a good point. If anything does go wrong it would most likely on the platform side that
MA provides and not the content itself. Where the fault lies doesn't really matter though.. What matters
is letting people know that weird stuff is likely to happen and that they will monitor it closely and fix it
asap. Anyway I hope things go well =P

I hope he is doing well, and as he knows, if needed, he can always work from home remotely. Just please tell him that next time he rushes to work to update us all on the release date that it's not all that important and that he should take care to look out for himself over us.

Ah, well, the flaws of the PP concept...

Marketing your planet you have basically 3 options:

1. Start early, slowly increase efforts. This means releasing screenshots to games media, some exclusives for X, some for Y, maybe a couple of interviews, announcing a release data, more screenshots, maybe a trailer, etc etc etc. That's the way almost all regular games companies go, max coverage to get as much people as possible interested and excited. Doing that with an EU planet would mean a lot of those people sign up to EU and get involved with other planets, not a good a idea.

2. Wait until your planet has been released. Starting promotion after the release of games means rather the opposite of above, actually quite dumb to do it that way unless you have really good reasons (like avoiding to drive a large number of potential players to the competition in form of other EU planets). Not a good idea either.

3. The middle way. Open registration, start marketing. Balancing the disadvantages of 1. and 3., suboptimal.

To sum it up: Looks like you can't do it right. One got the love the PP concept.

when i've herd just about every current planet partner say "well it worked on our test servers then we give it to MA and now it's screwed up" what else am i supposed to think? If it works on test servers that MA provides the software for and doesn't when they give the same data to MA who else fault is it then MA? Either they didn't give them the proper test servers or they did something when they got the data.

also MA controls all loot and we've seen how that has gotten screwed up. So i'm fairly confident that MA has and can screw things up. Not saying they can't fix it or that MA sucks. Like seriously no other game has this sort of relationship and there is bound to be bugs. You dont see blizzard having 3-7 different games all on the same platform. We're in ground bracking new technology so there is going to be lots of crazy crap. The important thing is to plan for it.

Thanks for the patient everyone :)

Ed hoped he could reveal the date Monday already, and is sad he could not tell you already - but they are still talking with MA about the release/date - so please, be patient a tiny, little bit longer =)

Thanks

Mindark’s next content release date will be Tuesday March 13th according to my Next Island and Planet Arkadia sources, seems the next PP content release date has been announced , so if Planet Cyrene have to get the green light from MA then its either most likely going to be 13th March or it will be pushed back to April. Assuming going by MAs PP updates windows once a month since VU12.
