Spear Head MK. I

I took a quick test drive. SI has been reduced to 300 (was 1500) but it no longer takes ridiculous damage just cruising around, although it still takes quite a bit. Basic handling and capabilities remain the same (freakin' great), and it looks a bit better. I have not blown it up yet to see if it does that now, and did not damage it enough to really notice any visual changes. I also forgot to check the lights.

The main thing is, it's still a super fun rocket sled!

No visual changes until it's destroyed. When I use the "Place" function on the destroyed Spear it becomes visible and looks like below, but after I place it it disappears again. Apparently the problem with the texture.

Hmm, mine still has 1500. Maybe because I'm outside of Cyrene but as far as I understand such changes apply globally.

Hmm, well, I really like it in principle, but I was still getting insane 15 points damage (often multiples together) while driving ON the roads. This was after the vu with higher ride height, by the way, so the pebbles must still be super-invisible rocks or something....
Oh, and I've been spending most of my time on a mothership recently, so I don't personally mind using my rk-5 to do repairs :). It does seem very hard-going on newcomers, however, and is much faster damage than at an 'enjoyable' rate. I also find it annoying to get damage when my driving is fine, but maybe that's my pride! Still, most people have pride too, you know... please fix this... :cheer:

It says 300 on the second panel, but still shows 1500 on the first panel, so that is mixed up.

I also take back what I said about the random damage - it is still prone to taking high damage over nothing.

The lights are much better :)

Svarog I think it might be an angle issue. From some angles the Spear looks better then the Quad. We checked and on low graphics levels the Spear is still sharper then the Quad from almost all angles. We will, however, continue to try and improve where we can. The plastic look will be changed as well to look more metal as was intended.

It would also help if you let us know what kind of graphics card and graphics setting the picture you took were at.

Hey guys, wanted to touch on this too, this issue is currently being looked into.

This was disappointing to read :(

Hopefully there will be a Spear that is (c)

I should mention that we will have colorable Spears in the future =)

Hmm, it didn't occurred to me that my ancient graphics card may be not enough to display it correctly, was just comparing it with the quad which looks better but maybe uses simpler effects. I play on GTX285/1Gb on High settings ("very high" for distance), 2x aliasing.

I made a video on very high settings, though there is no visible difference for me in the spear's line quality between high and very high. Ok, maybe I'm too picky and obsessed with little details.

Oh wait, I looked at your screens at full size. Now I see that I miss most of the true quality, so it's my problem.

Hey! Not only does it look much, much better, it smokes and explodes now, too! :D
(still invisible while destroyed though)

Some pictures from tonight below, racing up and down a big, steep, mob-free mountain SW of Solfais Crater, Calypso. This is the best Spear playground I've found yet - 700m of vertical drop and steep slopes all the way around, some smooth, some rugged. Summit is 888m, base is around 175m. SI on Spear is still really1500, so it took forever to destroy it for the first time, but I sure had fun doing it. (only one click on the RX-5 before the second one)

So I met some guys from the army and spend some time with them to understand what happens around.

Seem quite busy over there must be something coming up as they where not really open but asked me to buy a weapon and ammunition before I even had a chance to get to my tent.

I decided to do so to not cause false impressions that I am into any kind of resistance against their routines.
Combat training on some robot I did. They are up into letting everyone run through their basic training. If there is really something out there they can always tell that everyone got trained at least. After setting up my gear they send me on a patrol. I went to have a look around.

Indeed the area seems to have seen more peaceful days. Army where the eye can see. You need some steps to get out the range of them but that wont last for long.

Scoutbots yeah right, Scoutbots all around the area. Busy collecting data for whatever reason. What is out there?

Holstered a rapidfire laser pistol for backup before I cloaked inside some bushes. Time goes by. A group of scoutbots came along. My chance. Opened rapidfire on them - took them out.

I was even able to gather resources. Spend the whole evening on that. Scoutbots where you see. What is out there?

When I returned to the camp I decided to craft Power Cells as they might could be needed. Didn't buy them on the market. Selfmade - It's tooltime.

Indeed the army had use for them. Changed one of them against some currency and met a Engineer called Ferguson. Hes the armys topshot for crafting vehicles. In return for the Power Cells he introduced me into vehicle engineering and crafted a Spear MK1 for me. It seems to be some vehicle very sensible to unflat grounds and the steering functions could be some more adjusted to change directions slightly quicker.

The army got alot of those. One equal to the other. But this evening turned into a good small adventure and work. All spears are equal. But this is special. Its selfmade. Its mine.

OMG ... if anyone can do something like that it would be you Miles ... (except MAYbe Softy) ... love how you push the limits with your vehicles. :xxxlaugh:

That's quite creative actually.

I was trying to get to the top of one of Twin Peaks' peaks (the western one) and ended up stuck, nose first. I never did make it - I think approaching from another face may be in order.

It's hard enough to drive a Valk through that gap I'm stuck in - although it can be done, but the Spear had major trouble in there - I don't think it could decide which surface to hover over - although that is a separate issue from getting stuck nose first. I don't have a clue how I did it, except that I was probably driving down the mountain after falling off and trying to recover.
