The Planet Cyrene TEN Edition - POSTPONED

Hello Everyone,

We are going to postpone The HUB Encounter TEN event. There are a number of reasons for this, the main reason being the unbalance in the Arenas due to a bug that does not max out some players stats (however MindArk did manage to get the Scoreboards working in time). Not to mention an overwhelming majority of players did not like how the event was going to take place so this will be altered in hopes for all players to be able to play and not feel cheated.

I am very sorry for making this announcement on the day of the event, we really wanted this event to be fun but unfair is definitely not fun. There have been a number of suggestions, and they are all great, however some of them are simply not possible with how our current system works. That being said, as we are working on restructuring this event any and all suggestions can be posted here.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but I think everyone can agree that to push back this TEN event in order for it be more structured and balanced will make it more enjoyable for everyone. Your continued support of Planet Cyrene is appreciated and your feed back will make this a better place in the future!

Hi Kris, thank you very much for posting.
Apologising (saying sorry) is part of doing the right thing and as I also posted in the main thread, I suggested that the event be postponed. So I agree with you on the decision, and thank you for saying sorry.

In terms of the improvements you now wish to make, I do think this is a hard task for the hub environment as it stands. You maybe know of changes to be implemented in the coming content update, so it could change the framework quite a lot in ways that we users are unaware of.
Maybe if you can let us know cornerstones of what you want in the event, such as: has to be in the hub, or must be in pvp but could also be a set of events with a limited set of entry keys for the new event areas etc....
Then we can make more detailed suggestions about what we think too.

Any suggestions at this points are valued. If not for this then for future events.

So event suggestions both inside and outside the Hub will be appreciated :)

Thank you to everyone for understanding. We only wish to set up a fun and working for everyone - event.

Ah well great as tomorrow I've to go somewhere and couldn't participate in the small 8h timeframe and it seemed there's no maximum amount of time to spend either. So whoever has most IRL available time in that frame has the best odds.

Also it would be great if only untiered things from the TT work in this event. As I remember when the hub opened a select group of people cheated using plates and like that were able to get better gear at the cost of their victims. Took the fun off the place ever since for me.

Plates are still not allowed in event = Exploits, and they have been patched up where you could no longer use plates in any hub armor same goes for amps on any hub weapons.

But as for tiers, The longer you been here more time you spent at tiering and as well cycle in the hub well i think thats fair game, not saying i do have any tier 1+ gear just thought thats fair.

If that's the case I can find no reason to try participate really... same reason I never came back to the hub as the inbalance was never restored. The ones that abused the bug kind of got rewarded by that attitude towards it.

Suggestion for postponed event:
From every angle I try to look at individuals meeting each other in a semi-random way and fighting just for themselves, I see problems of unofficial teamwork occurring.
The best pvp events I have seen so far are the fort events (with 2 forts, triangles and stars), which now very rarely take place for various reasons, but got closest to fair fights in my opinion.
IF teams can be balanced better than the auto-balancing option now available, I would actually suggest a team component within the scoring of an event. Individual performance should naturally play a role too and I agree the idea of a team component will make designing the competition tougher and a headache.... however, I also think it would be most likely to get around all the single-player event fairness problems.

The events could be held at different times of day with short qualifier rounds to give winners tickets for the following elimination/semi-finals hour, for example. Having live pvp will always bring up the problem of what time of day to have the final. The alternative is to rack up points during events with everyone taking part and get points winners overall that way (including the winning team component). The number of tickets should then be limited per person, like for Merry Mayhem (and yes, I appreciate the problems ctds and after-event adjustments have been causing!!!)

Of all the areas (pvp, hunting, mining, crafting) I think a pvp event is the toughest to organise well. Maybe, yes maybe, you should consider having a more easily fair TEN event that finally KICK-STARTS Cyrene materials and crafting with Cyrene mats!!!!

I do believe Cyrene dev team is working on something like this not 100% but they are working on something special for team hub pvp. I think the last rumors was HUB creatures and vehicles.

Good idea to postpone it. With some work the hub could be a lot of fun I would love to see queued up battlegrounds which would work perfect for this event. People queue up, pay for a set number of respawns (say 10) and once the battleground is full it automatically teleports everyone queued up into the arena with a 30 second countdown (Similar to how Warhammer Online worked and adapted by some other not to be named MMOs). A full battleground is always more fun than 2-4 people waiting for someone to show up or 2 guys killing each other for points.
