-Daily quests that are newbie friendly and very inexpensive to do. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that daily quests already exist, but are limited to trade-ins of certain items (green crystal / zorn star ore) that no newbie will ever get their hands on unless they buy a large stack from the auction terminal. I like tokens as a reward, as long as they are in demand and have a value. I would also like to see a larger variety of daily quest tasks, perhaps 'find this unique mob that wanders around and kill it' or 'deliver this message to NPC XY at an outpost without TP'
There are already quests where you need to kill some creatures for tokens. Also to get Zorn Star Ore all you need to do is to buy TT finder and drop max 1PED of probes. Only problem i know is that there is no Refiner in TT terminal (crafters worst nightmare  ).

crystal pede is a great 30 hp sweat mob with a challenge and give low damage.

also yellow and green crystals are very findable with the tt finder if you follow the hints given by the mission npcs :)

I know. But those quests are not nearly as newbie friendly as they could be. :) Zorn star is below the maximum depth of TT finders unless it was changed very recently. Green crystal I found 2 in all the time I've mined, which was a few hours a day for weeks. Also: There are no TT finders in Cyrene, something else that should be looked into sometime. You have to bring one from another planet, might not be an option for someone who picked Cyrene as their starting planet. Crystal pedes, due to their health which is three times that of puny caraboks (which I used as an example) and low to no markup on their drops are quite expensive in ammo costs / decay to kill. I can't afford hunting them long term.

Which is why I brought up the issue of affordable newbie quests! Just the yellow crystal one that is doable is too few in variety.

well, ur general idea is good, but in specific cases ur wrong
-there IS a rookie finder in tt
-i can find with this finder zorn, just go to right area
-pedes are not so hard, while u got in tt that HK. my disciples says they even profit on them sweating and killing after. thats the MU gain on pedes i guess.

the thing that could be changed is to provide some free stuff to newcommers like other planets do. NI is my favourite at that point.
btw. to have such freebies on arkadia it took like a year from its launch to come.

Maybe you find Zorn due to your skills? With newbie skills - I've mined on pretty much every possible spot on Cyrene at least once, and always lyst only. Pedes aren't hard, just too expensive to grind / raise skills on. If your disciples manage to sell the sweat for a decent price, they are very lucky.

My rookie finder still isn't maxed after weeks of mining. It sure is a slow skill to raise. Already got a mentor, thanks though. I might try selling my Ark sweat to you on Cyrene. :p

There is just NO WAY that you haven't found Zorn Star ore spot if you have been mining for several hours a day for few weeks as you are saying. That stuff is everywhere. I get Zorn Star most of the time when i'm mining ore and i get it with Cyrene Rookie finder (the only one in TT). My enmatter mining skills are not even worth mentioning but i still get few yellow, green, blue crystal claims after dropping 10PEDs of probes with the same Cyrene rookie finder.

Also there IS low level creatures that mostly drop high markup loot needed for vehicle crafting. If you cannot find the way how to break even then it just means you haven't study that planet enough our you just lack the experience about this game which will only come with time.

Please keep in mind this is still Cyrene 'Soft Launch' and Don't make up your mind till full launch is out many more mining tweaks, loot drops, and better tweaked gear to come within the next few vu's.

well.. while i am hestiant to say this (since you seem to be having a rough go of it on cyrene) i am willing to give you a tour/demo of how i play on cyrene.

where to find ores and en mats

how to skill on pedes

where to find previsouly mentioned high mu low lvl mobs

and a few other things if they pop into my mind.

and its pretty easy to sell sweat on cyrene i have sold over 50k sweat from 2 to 5 ped per k. the only way to ever sell sweat is to have patience. (as i was writing this is sold 6k sweat at arc head quarters)* and 2 ped per k for a free recourse is a good price :)

pedes do have mu. you just have to stack them which is hard for a new player but nothing worth while is ever easy. also breaking even or even profitting on a mob is a matter of long term not just one or two runs its over a 1000's kills.

cyrene is not a planet (as of right now) where you can drop in for a day and profit or break even in most cases (19k hof 0_o)... you have to learn where things are, what they drop, and how to read what they are dropping at the moment.

i dont know much but i am will to share what i think i know if your intrested. i can be found most time at arc head quarters, and the hunting grounds.

Could you please change Scout Bot 100 and 200 attack rate? They are only L9 mobs with 50-100HP but they hit more often than Atrox - it's just ridiculous.

This thread isn't supposed to be about telling me how to play. That's irrelevant to the question of what development should focus on next.

Fact: Cyrene lacks active players. My suggestions were intended to get more new players who are starting on Cyrene to stick around, this should be the highest priority for coming developments in my opinion. Newbies are being advised to start on Arkadia or Caly instead. The new player experience on Cyrene needs improvement, for the reasons I mentioned. I'm sure most new players who give it a try, then quit, never find a mentor, probably don't even sign up on the forums, and certainly don't study MU statistics. They will learn about all those things later - but ONLY if their very first, completely clueless newbie experience motivates them to stay on the planet, and in EU overall.

For that, I believe, a newbie quest hub with more immediately, affordably and easily doable daily quests (with rewards that cover costs) would work wonders.

p.s. If you find something with a rookie finder with -maxed- depth on it due to your skills, it doesn't mean that someone with -no- skills and minimum depth will find the same. :)

I would agree with the newbie experience. It is lacking compared to others and if and when you go gold you will want it to be the best in the universe

Only thing they need to work on is figuring out how to get MA to do their part in keeping old and new players and being competitive against the many other sci-fi free-to-play MMO's out there and to keep players that are not rich gamblers. Loot needs a complete redesign and balance to fix that. Otherwise we are sticking to our niche market of investors and gamblers and growth will never come.

Maybe start to really pull players from calypso or something offer more events and prizes to draw there player base from the MA's home planet. Pay Motherships to give free transport events. something to send a message that this games needs a change in direction. Because seriously after almost 9 years of full support of Entropia i'm starting to loose hope. I can't tell people i meet to start playing becasue it's the best game out there because i feel like i'd be dishonest.

no this is not about me having bad loot it's about how no matter how hard we try we can't keep new players from quitting because they just made everything so complicated and costly to have fun. Playing is stressful with trying to figure out "the right" thing to do. why play Entropia when you can jump into many other free to play games have fun and not be so stressed. I've used to spend hours calculating real economy factors making my cost per kill the absolute cheepest and hunting at statistically benefitial times. Crunching all the numbers using every resource we have out there for tracking stats as best anyone could and i still did bad and i got soo stressed over it trying to calc the right formula and it didn't even make a difference doesn't matter if you hunt eco or not eco you get the same average bad rate back. Then i realized this just isn't even fun anymore this isn't like playing a fun game it feels more like i'm trying to make some big life decision like buying a house or changing jobs or buying a used car and some of those things were more fun.

Sorry for the rant but Cyrene and all the planet partners are really doing a great job I think it's MA that really needs to get a big kick in the nuts right now to get there head on strait.

Awhile back i made a comment about how Crystal pedes could be the "next" carabok.

i think that it is well on its way to becoming with the larger hp=more sweat and its low damage to high hit ratio. thing next step that it needs to take it to drop a crafting item that only it will drop.

  • Crystal carapace - this could be a simple hide used for what would be a great texture would would be lvl 1 hopefully
or - a armor componet for a lvl 1 armor. i think a primitive looking armor of crystal pede pieces and leather or vine strap tying it together would be damn cool looking. it would only offer very slight protection. like the carapace armor from ark now that i think about it. :) i guess that was lurking it the depths and influenced the name.
