I am going to throw my 2 pec in the ring here, and although I doubt many will agree with me, it's my opinion nonetheless. I started this game in 2008 (with a 10 year hiatus) and have really seen the changes at warp speed. I was there when the first (L) items appeared, and when Neverdie bought the first space property.
I think the biggest issue today with Cyrene is the local economic marketplace. When I need anything, even as simple as welding wire, I have to go off-world because there are none for sale locally. If I try to sell anything in AH, I have to mark it up insanely to make up for the 5 weeks of auction fees when it failed to sell. This is completely unacceptable, and antitheta to the design for this game. The inability to sell basic looted items at any markup destroys our only chance to break even, and drives away players who count on that as a strategy. 99% of items in the loot box on Cyrene end up in the TT, and that includes most weapons and armor. Don't even get me started on mined ores and enmatters. This is the #1 issue driving people away. I personally have no interest in spending my days flying back and forth to Caly or Arcadia tending auctions, and don't think most people do either. I know there have been calls for years for booths and shops. I don't know if they will help or not, but I do know that no matter what changes get implemented, if they don't fix this basic issue, Cyrene will always be just a place for people to come grab a Maze Hammer, maybe a noob fap, and then leave. I love this planet, it has great missions, interesting items, and can be very immersive. It is a pity for it to go to waste because so few will stick around to experience it.
