The Imperium C.L.A.W. Mech

looks interesting, which year will it be released? Guessing around 2014?

So my guess still holds then? Nah seriously I think there was a rather down heartening interview with Ed iirc some time ago where he talked about the delays to the real launch and that they always wanted new avatars but had no idea when mech's would be implementable. MA have talked of new avatars being a (sensible imo) pre-requisite for "pets" and that a particular planet partner was going to be rather based on such a concept. One would imagine they would also be a pre-requisite for mechs too. There are certainly elements in common. For example if you can "ride" a pet/familiar, you are essentially controlling it much as you would a mech. However one could consider mechs as "vehicles". I remember MA saying something about ce2 only by default supporting 2 legged mobs, and either boats, flying vehicles or 4 wheeled vehicles... I suppose there are the hover crafts too. But yeh essentially we have everything that was a default in crysis. That said, MA and the PP's seem to be getting away with some good variation regardless.

As regards the new avatars, its still such early days. I changed some clothes the other day in game and freaked out a crowd of new players completely. Apparently the results were as disturbing for everyone else as they were for me. I turned into a distorted black flickering shape.

MA have some serious patching to do before we can move ahead with mechs, more gestures or pets.

The Imperium C.L.A.W. (Construction, Land, and War) Mech is pivotal when it comes to constructing advanced bases in unknown and harsh landscapes.

Built to serve as an independent bot capable of performing construction, demolition, and sentry duties, the C.L.A.W. has also recently been outfitted with a pilot cockpit, in order to serve as a makeshift weapon for the Imperium's Engineering Corps.

The weapon systems on board range from its massive claws used to crush smaller foes, as well as shoulder mounted cannons ready for any serious threats that might engage the C.L.A.W. in close combat.

Prepare yourselves for some serious damage :ping:

Me too ... that would have been nasty ;)

Out of interest Lykke (and I fully expect the answer here to be "can't say" or "don't know") but when those pics were taken, what state was the Mech functionality on that test server or whatever was used to create the screenshots?

I mean, was it simply a model plopped into the game or was it actually controllable in some way shape or form?

Just thought I'd try poking you with the "info stick" ;)

To be honest, I wish I could say something cool here, but I can't say because I don't know

Hey guys,

August 2012......Its now September 2013, when may I ask are MECHs going to make an appearance? When is the hard launch?

As soon as there is some news to share about this we'll be blasting it all over, you can be sure about that.

As for now there are some things in the works that need to be finalized for Hard Launch, not to mention there are some outstanding bugs that need to be resolved. In lue of Hard Launch, we've done our best to add substantial content to each VU here on Cyrene in the mean time (and even some Dynamic Unlocks thanks to the current Players), the same goes for this coming VU.

I hope that we'll be able to share more about mechs, Hard Launch, and other things not yet known about Cyrene soon.

Cheers,
Kris

Nice to see a (albeit vague) comment from another member of the staff. What sort of bugs are there out of interest? I'm always interested in the details of development and the sort of stuff that goes on. Its a shame we've never had anything like that from MA or any of the PP's.

Still, nothing here not already suspected. In short Cyrene needs a game with X/Y and Z in it before hard launch (or at least well along the pipeline) and if the update from MA on the next game update is anything to go by it sounds like MA have yet to aquire the pipe let alone started to push anything down it! ^_^ Basically we just have to wait and enjoy whatever content comes out. I still haven't even BEEN to Cyrene so certainly have nothing to complain about haha. I did get some very snazzy armour of an interplanetary trader though.

So to talk about Mechs.... anyone here played MW online or MWLL (http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/) also didn't Hawken come out? Would be great to hear from someone with experience of playing that on the Rift.

We get a reasonable a mount of detail about technical issues from Dave at Arkadia as well, but I agree - as a developer, the sort of technical blocks being faced and the support systems needing to be developed always fascinate me too.

So, if it is possible to share any of that, I promise we will NOT be bored :)
