Dear Fox,
I remember the guides and thought that was a great idea to have skilled people in game advising newcomers (or old-timers) whenever there was questions, and as we know - there are a lot I was sad too when the program got removed - but I'm guessing MA had good reasons for it - one of them being the possibility to have disciples - the other was the intro of a more throughout working newcomer area.
Regarding the Hard-Launch - I really really wish I could give you any news about this. Fact is that other things got higher prioritised - including fixing bugs in between VU's and patches. So for now we have been (and are) running it slow but more safe. Instead of having a lot of things going wrong in one go, we fix the smaller issues as they come when new things are implemented.
Cyrene is a planet were you can really use the term 'dynamic'. It is depending on people's activities and actions. By those it will grow, change and develop.
I can only say, that one thing hardly stands alone - and that things still need to be 'finished' or 'wrapped up'.
Unfortunately that's all I can say at this moment - because time will tell when it's 'safe' enough to have a hard launch.
About the PVP - it's a large part of the planet to have the whole PVP 'game'. Ed Robles mention this too in an interview before the planet was launched. There are a lot of areas though, where you do not find PVP. It's a choice, not a must
