Wish List Ecotron camping - The problem/improvements

The problem here is that the camping will be a problem. If the supply of bound items is unlimited, ie if everyone that has 200 badges would recieve a bound UL-item it would most likely influence the price of all other weapons. It would be too cheap to get it. Therefore the supply would most likely never be unlimited and camping would still be needed. In this case they would have to increase the cost of obtaining it.

The queue system could have conditions attached to it, ie you need to visist the npc/terminal or hand something in every week or so and you'd have to come online atleast like 72h after you've been rewarded with a rifle in order to claim it.

The way I see it there are a few basic conditions that we have to accept (with MA being the way they are)
  • Supply will always limited if the current cost stays the same or below the current market value of similar items
  • They are unlikely to change the attributes of existing weapons unless there is an exploit/abuse in relation to the item

Well I was just spit-balling a concept no crazier then the next guys ideas...

So "camping" is a problem.
Yet reduced weapon sales prices are a problem.
And somehow just buying the weapon from a seller is a problem.
But waiting to get weapon is a problem.
Yet queuing and waiting for weeks to to get weapon isn't a problem???
Which looks to some like camping by another name... :dunno:

Im sorry if I was too aggressive, im just trying to find the best possible solution. If I offended you I'm sorry.

Ofc I would prefer to just being able to buy it, without any wait and if it wasnt bound. Im just trying to find a way so that the planet partner actually could implement a better system and avoiding to involve MA as they seems reluctant to fix PP stuff.

The ideal solution (perhaps not mine) would be something that benefits both the PP and the players. There is potential to fix this system, its not broken but there is room for great improvement.

I root for cyrene and its playerbase, its my favorite planet and I want it to be the best possible. I want Cyrene to appear as fair and a worthwhile stay, perhaps even the new homeplanet for already established players. In order to do so, there are things that could be done both to get players to come here and to keep them here.

Most of my soc mates are caly based and they've visited Cyrene on multiple occasions but none of them knew about the badge rewards or how it works even though they have a lot more badges than me.

I've explained how the badge system works and that the ecotron is now available, they seem tempted but are reluctant to come back and camp. They want a more streamlined experience. I think this is a lost opportunity for the planet, cyrene is a bit rough around the edges and this scares ppl of.

Reward from badge is not a UL weapon, reward is access to a special vendor. Thats all.

UL weapons from vendor are rare, like UL weapon from loot, it's normal. Like you said, if there is an ulimited quantity, MU from many other UL weapon will drop.

Now, how to make a fair system for all players. Players with a work and want play have not time for camping (i bet these players deposit), so no chance to get these weapon.

How to make the system more fair ? Change Shrapnel for something like small bird wing or intact eye or scrap metal etc..
It will take more time to get 100ped of theses things and/or cost more for campers.

You all focus you eyes on UL weapons, but the problem exist with L items, some campers buy all L ecotron e15, e26 and L armor from vendor just for resell on Caly. I won't point any avatar, but we know all who do that. Its the game so its ok for me, this game cost alot and any way, if you do not abuse, scam or beg, is ok to make PED.

Shrapnel is very easy and cheap to find/buy. This is not, for me, like that with Cyrene loot.

System is ok for me, just not fair for real players who have a real life against avatar who can spend 12h per day just for standing near the vendor. Do not change anything on system, just change shrapnel and all who try his luck will have a better (equal?) chance.

Camping? It's nowhere near as bad as I had feared. In the morning hours, there's usually no one at the terminals, and in the afternoon usually two people. And it's not like they've stopped playing, they just spend online a little longer.

There's a much easier solution that doesn't require new code. Put the terminals in an instance that can be accessed, say, once in 24 hours and stays up for, say, 10 minutes. It would make sense if you could go there by talking to Zorra near A.R.C. Staging, and then she takes you to the terminals - that would explain why you see her in both places.

And better yet if I didn't have to undress for this. :)
 
And for heaven's sake, don't change from shrapnel to "something else". That would benefit mostly whales who don't mind risking a couple hundred PED for a slim chance of getting an UL gun. Of course, everyone else would get some MU but then it'd be only a temporary effect.

Hey guys, I have an idea that may help and hasn't been mentioned yet so I'm going to throw it out on the table: This idea is part of a list of ideas I have been working on to help improve planet Cyrene that I plan on posting soon, but since this one particular area has drawn so much concern I will drop it here.

Firstly, and not to upset/insult anyone here, but it has to be understood that this is a decent UL weapon we are talking about here. As such, not everyone can have one, no matter how many badges you have or how much time you spend on Cyrene. This is part of the larger in game economy. It is perfectly reasonable to expect only 5 -10 of these to drop a year.

With that out of the way, I would like to suggest an alternative. I imagine this would take a tiny bit of coding but I feel the best way to handle these UL ecotron drops is to force players to buy the L ecotron to have a chance at receiving an UL version. In this way, it not only stimulates turnover on Cyrene it also makes camping pointless (unless you need to camp for a bit to get a chance at L ecotron). You should not be able to see "stock" of UL ecotron is what Im getting at here.

I can talk more on this, but I will save it for the big post, I will also say I feel they should bring that vendor up planetside, and place it (along with the rank 2 that are located at the 0x0 depot all at the same place where the Rank 1 terminals are. The carrot and the stick are disjointed a bit ;)

To add, I do really like the ideas brought up about replacing shrapnel as a way to reward the locals but I also share some of Haruto's concerns.
I think one area we would could look at is instead of loot, how about easily made crafting product? Maybe a 100 ped tt of a combination of things like oz filters, matrix, imperial cubes etc?

The more I think about it the more I like it. It not only stimulates the economy and is easily accessible to newer players (if we use lvl1 crafting product), it also rewards Cyrene activity (hunting, mining) as well as helps establish a baseline mu% for the L ecotron itself

Why to move outside hub? There already plenty (too much?) NPC on Cyrene. Don't Forget, Turellion faction and others must come, you want place them outside hub too?
That mean 6 NPC for each faction ? This is alot !

This is indeed an interesting concept and I agree that not everyone that wants a rifle will get one nor should they. From what I've read on this forum aswell as elsewhere this is sort of the relationship between MA and the PP when it comes to introducing items:

With the current supply of items based on MA's system the limited version-supply rate will most likely stay the same even if the UL-version becomes a possible drop when buying the limited one. The current supply of limited would still require a great deal of camping in order to get a limited or unlimited version.

The only way to get rid of camping as a necessity is to increase the cost, Harutos option or a queue system. Eitherway I think the camping part should be fixed.

This is indeed an interesting concept and I agree that not everyone that wants a rifle will get one nor should they.
Well that's only reasonable considered the effect on the market esp. for crafted and other planets' stuff. But then creating the expectation or sense of entitlement in the first place that players who finish this mission get this reward is just sure to backfire, and so it did.

Maybe a solution like the Arkadian Warehouse instances is better. Everybody knows from the start, the introductory mission only buys you access, but the real good stuff is still rare loot inside. If making the gun rare is a must, then designing the game around it also is.

Suggestion: New mob in instance only, maybe in similar structure as Goldrush or Saldiresh's Vault or MM, or a wavespawn inside, both for solo and team (all members need their badges for access). Then you have people grind away at it, some may moan the reward is rare, but don't really have a reason to complain about the setup in the first place.

Alternative suggestion: Since the current design leads into the Hub... why not do something there. Haven't a bright idea about details yet, just throwing it out.

Well, The Hub was built by Turrelions for Turrelions, I'm not sure what A.R.C. are doing there, are they paying rent to Turrelions? :)

Some of Turrelion content could be moved to The Hub though, for example the maze with all its NPCs and the hammer NPC.

In my opinion the guns should either be removed or be made avatar bound.
Spawning weapons like this is a very bad move.

The only real solution is to stop bribing people to come to your planet with promises of unbalanced unlimited items.

I have an idea. Make all items user bound and the money fake. Remove RCE from this planet.
The only tradable items will be those from TT cuz anything new and good in game will impact the economy in a bad way, and will allow the camping exploiter to make tons of cash.
